California - Northern

The lighter ones are pullets and darker with head spots cockerels. This is per nicalandia here https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/727364/a-bielefelder-thread/380#post_13232925
I will for as long as they are here, the pullets are all promised away already. I am trying to decide if I will hatch more this summer, we have been incubating since Xmas and thought we would be done after this.

I love that name.

Oh the poor little thing....I've had some rough hatches recently too. Keeping my fingers crossed that it's ok.
Thank you!

Oh...and I am so sorry I forgot to "hide" the picture. Hope I didn't gross anyone out...

I sure hope so. It looks like I am only going to get 6 (including this one) out of 36 shipped eggs to hatch. At least they are all Mottled. No solids among them at all.
I was wondering why I hadn't heard from UC Davis yet regarding my blood sample results, so I called and they said that something about the blood serum was reacting with something so they had to send it off to another lab of theirs, the Turloc? lab if I remember right. They said the blood sample is still viable and I could hear back as early as tonight, if not tonight then early next week. I'm so anxious waiting for the results.
I was just thinking about that this morning. I hope you hear this evening. I had when you are waiting on something over the weekend!

Mostly still just lurking in the shadows here. But I just have to share....................... Sex linked...........

Yes, you can use blue kote. You can also use triple anti biotic without the "cain" in it (pain killer).

Good going Jerry........I do so love the blues & don't have nearly enough of them.....LOL

I will use the blueKote. I put it on with a Q-Tip Thanks!

How often should I reallpy it?
I would put it on twice a day until the yolk drops off and the naval heals.

Make sure the chick is eating and drinking by tomorrow. If not you may need to tube feed\water for a couple of days. Hopefully it will be up and about soon though.

The bony little chick is doing better today - more alert, eating and drinking.
Everyone says not to confuse the cat about the chicks, etc, so I'm not going that route. Thanks for the input!
