California - Northern

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm upright today, which is a huge improvement. Still taking it easy.

My broodies are driving me bonkers. One broody hatched while I was gone, and another broody stole the chicks. This morning 2 of the chicks were under another broody. Geez, it's a chicken soap opera!

Glad you are up and taking it easy....this^^^ is funny.

I'm not sure who is moving into the new 10x10 kennel pen but they had better appreciate it, I'm covered in poison oak and not even close to bird ready yet.

Augh....so sorry to hear that ... hope the rest of the project is less itchy!

Mine come from Privet Hatchery. Ive read a number of reviews from people who had their birds saying they lay right around 20 weeks. I would think weather and molt and other stresses could cause a longer period. It might also make significant difference if they are simply laying or have a roo as well.

I hope it works out for you.

here are the other 3 chicks

@liz9910 and @ronott1 Thanks. Ron I haven't examined it that carefully yet...would it mean it wasn't splash if it didn't have them? I was assuming b/c it isso much lighter than the blue one but I don't have any experience with splash so maybe I am wrong.

Time will tell!

It might be a lighter blue or splash.

Well with 7 little peepers in a box in the house and the now 9 week old fosters taking up the brooder we just had a shift and closed off the little coop and moved the fosters outside. THe older buffs having spent the night with the dels seem to be a bit better off now so I think that is the way its going to be for now.
This gives me some time to really deep clean the brooder and move the chicks to the garage in a week or so. Just about the time they are ready to start flying.

Its really cool to see a brooder full of easily identifiable chicks.
They grow very fast.
