California - Northern

All three of the Pita Pinta eggs have action. One is zipping but has stopped and the last one has a pip.

The last two K Ranger eggs look like quitters though.

One of the Ranger chicks is black with a white spot. It should be a Boy and will likely be Barred like a BPR(Barred Plymouth rock). I think she used them in making the Rangers so it makes sense.

So happy about the PPs so grateful you added them in! Thank you!

I hope the other Konzas didn't quit but if they did...well they did. Maybe I already have a pair there. I am getting a NH roo and two pullets from Lualshannon in August and either way if these chicks are pullets cockerels or one of each, they and the NH will make great additions to my flock from the meat/egg standpoint. Renee is talking about selling off her Konza flock and maybe whomever gets them will use the wisher/skyline shipping method and we can try again...or maybe it isn't meant to be. Regardless I am a happy chicken keeper!

Keep an eye out for the person that gets the Konza!

My Shipped ebay hatch is worse than this one. Out of 20 shipped eggs, only 2 are still going.

I am sorry about that :( When is their hatch date? Sorry I don't remember but what are they?

Arielle has some of the Konzas but her hatch was not so great either I think she got 7. Renee said she would send her more eggs but as far as I know that has not yet happened. The breeding stock I believe is being looked at by ppl in Kansas and Tx but I am not sure if they have sealed the deal.

Anyhow...I am thinking that because the first two are already closing in on 2 days old that Tomorrow or Sunday might be better days for me to drive over. I would leave here early...be there by 9:30 or so and back home before noon.

I am looking forward to getting my hands on those babies for sure!

Jason I am so sorry for your sadness. Our companion animals keep a place in our hearts forever though.

I have had computer problems & am so many pages behind I am not even going to try. I think it has turned out to be a good thing because my daily thread reading has fed my compulsions. I have made a hard decision to cut waaaaaaaaaay back so not reading so much has helped with that. I have a lot of moving around to do but am going to try to stay focused on a plan. will still pop in now and again though. I will be keeping enough breeds to stay involved but letting go of enough to make a difference in the labor & expense. I think next season I will do custom hatching but not be raising chicks so much.
I will be keeping my:
BCMs
BBS AMs
Pita Pintas
Beilfelders
for sure but am going to start selling many of the others off.

Alrighty...Let's see what you guys think.
Here's the three mystery chicks. One is an EE/Ameraucana, two are Trader Joe's. Which do you guys think is the EE? Can you tell for sure? (by the way, the chick in the middle does NOT have messed up feet, it was just standing like that for some reason)

Adorable! Great pic. I can't help with identification though.

I'd say TJ, EE, TJ based on cheeks and coloration. Cute chicks and photo as usual.

Quote: I won a batch of Golden Cuckoo Orp eggs from Renee in a contest over a year ago, I never had any development either. Maybe it's a very tough shipping route and she needs a different method of shipment to overcome the handling.

The eggs were packed in the gray foam. I think the white foam is the one that stops vibration. I was shipped a box using the white foam and it was dented in one side, breaking 6 of the eggs.

I still had about a 50% hatch rate on the rest of them. Much better than hatching 2 out of 18 eggs.

I know they were in a foam shipper, but I don't remember what kind. Just that I didn't get any chicks

Thanks. Got a call from someone in San Jose looking for fertile brown eggs.

Ive got marans eggs.

:yuckyuck  Both f my incubators are occupied, so  I have them sitting in a towel on warm water bottles and covered that with a sleeping bag. They're definitely warm now and peeping a little. Sure would love to see the video!

I stick 1/2 hatched eggs or cold chicks in the incubator. Chicks in eggs eggs on the side rails. I put any found chick in there a shocking amount survive.
You should be able to tell the difference between the two when they fluff up. look for fat cheeks. Also, you might be able to see the difference in the combs. TJs will have straight combs and EEs will usually have pea combs,

They will be more obvious when they puff up. Try putting nail polish on the top of the head for id.
