If anyone is interested in Barred or Lemon Cuckoo English Orpington pairs, please PM me.
I hatched some from eggs from Papa Brooder in Redding. They are so big & fluffy now!
Of Lemon Cuckoo, I have 1 pullet & 2 cockerels to pick from.
Of Barred, I have 4 pullets & 2 cockerels to pick from. They are split to chocolate.

They all hatched about March 28, 2014 so are about 20 weeks old now.

LoL...it's ok now I know! My langshan now is pretty docile. Do you have any pictures of your splash that you were talking about?
This is an older pic but she hasn't changed much. You can see that her eyes are too light. I'll have to check to see how old she is but I think that she is around 20 weeks old.

Pretty birds! I would have one of each kind if I was rich and had land!

Ooo! How gorgeous! Love that splash color...
I love my big blue Langshan. She is a good layer plus a good setter/mama when I let her go broody
She hatched & raised some University of Arkansas blue-egg-layer eggs for me this year.
Mine's from a hatchery - I'll bet a breeder-raised one like yours would be even better.

My oldest daughter is in the hospital in labor with her first baby!

I am trying to keep myself occupied until I get the "get down here right now" call. Her husband is a private person and I'm trying to respect his wishes.

So, I've been taking chicken and egg pics. Sorry if I overwhelm the thread but it does keep me busy!

My Pita Pinta/Cream Legbar cross pullets just started laying eggs this past week. I think that I have 3 laying right now.

The 3 blue eggs at the top of the plate are Cream Legbar eggs and all the green eggs are pullet eggs from my new layers. I'm thrilled with the color!

Very nice!

The Pita Pinta x Cream Legbar eggs are darker than expected.

The cream legbars hatched quieter and are quieter in the brooder during the first week. The Pita Pintas were noisy when they hatched and complained more when it was lights out( they are under a heat plate so they get to experience darkness).

I am sure the Cream Legbars will be plenty noisy when they are older, especially the cockerels.
I've had CL for a couple of years now, and they seem to be fairly quiet. Alert, personable, come running, easy to handle, etc etc. But not real chatty or vocal. And I have plenty of roosters and other distractions in the orchard for them. The roosters have been very good at warning calls, but not overly excited (they know the difference between a crow and a hawk).
