your eggs are always beautiful jason!

now THATS a sense of humor!

 Yes, fabulous visual!

I found the email of the local guy who said he processes today!!! I am hoping he does ducks, and hes not moved, the email is 2 years old >>

Also, last call on female French white Muscovies before they get processed.  They are   adult sized now and you should get some eggs this year, they might even sit for you!

Yes Dan always seems to find humor in my poultry endeavors.
I was looking for sympathy from him. I mean I was LOCKED in a cage with no help!
Sure it was for a total of about 90 seconds, but those 90 seconds were TORTURE! ;)
A local processor??

Hello everyone! Been super busy so have been lurking not posting much.

I'm looking at getting a couple of good books to continue my chicken education and was hoping to get a poll of your favorite, most useful books or authors. Thanx!

I am starting to get some nice olive eggs from my crele olive eggers

Beautiful egg! I hope to get some soon from my Marans/EE cross pullet
So I got locked in the chicken coop today.
Not long, maybe two minutes.
But those 2 minutes seemed like a lifetime!
I walked in to give the birds watermelon and as the door shut the tiny latch came down shut.
There is a cover on the whole thing and the outside pen was hot.
I freaked a bit. Didn't even have my phone and no one was home.
I reached one finger through the wire and lifted the latch. It wasn't an easy reach.
When informing my husband of my adventure, he quipped "well at least you had watermelon if you wanted it"

Oh no! I have sone that too. That is why I have this one my gate now.

My little Cream Legbar Roos were all sitting on their roost last night in the brooder in the garage doing their best impersonation of the Bud-wis-er frogs.
Pictures...we need pictures....

I would consider it if I had 100 to process.

With the care taking of the crash victim, I was a bit behind tonight getting the treats to the hens. Yang, my nearly 5 year old golden comet had already gone to bed in the coop. I held back some of the treat and called for her to come out. She finally made it out to get the treats so I gave her the last bit.

She really is a sweet old lady hen.

If I had 100 to process I would definitley consider it to. We did have a gander processed by a guy near Oroville years ago when we bought what we thought was a trio and ended up with 2 ganders and a goose. He made a wonderful Christmas dinner!

Funny how the older hens become to favorites and get spedial treatment. My blue Wyandotte and Red Sex Link are my oldest (about 3 years) and they get extras too. It is starting to get dark earlier so I am noticing the flock is heading to roost earlier now. Mine have been getting a bit od scratch grains to get them to go into the secure pen around 7:30. Tonight when I went out they were already in the pen, but all came running out when they saw me to get there treats!

Wish I could take some off your hands, but San Jose is too far for me.

Thanks for the info. Maybe I'll ask for a SOP for my birthday/Christmas from the Mr. in December.
