Hmm... I bought 8 chicks from a local breeder. Five have died within the first day or two. I think I'm sending in a few to Davis just for peace of mind. I just need to call and get the FedEx account number in the morning, since we only have a drop box in town.

You can send two per day for necropsy.

Quantity depends on the lab and the pathologist. I once sent in three peafowl, which they are supposed to charge for (gamebirds are not free) and two chicks and they did all five at no charge. The pathologists can and do waive charges, so call and ask.

I'm not sure I'd trust what they said today, I had to talk to three people before they found one who wasn't telling me they didn't have a FedEx account.

I am not surprised. It is the end of summer and the Fall Quarter starts in a week--Summer help for phones are not as reliable and regular staff will be taking last minute vacations.

It is a University after all so runs on University time.

Two should be plenty for a Necropsy.

How are the survivors doing today.
