Thanks for the good wishes!!

Bresse are on my wish list...one day

Welcome!!!
I'll add on the Bresse: they haven't slowed down much with the daylight change so far. They've been laying since April/may.
The eggs are 62 grams and 58 grams, so according to weight :size large. And getting bigger. They lay about 5 days a week.
Because they are touted as the famous eat bird, I was surprised by they're great laying capabilities. Didn't hear much on that aspect

If you dig about them, you will find them described as being dual purpose but they have much more value as meat. The pullets make good meat too so most of them go for that and not egg laying.

Yes, in the fall.

Some of mine (welsummers) are in full molt, and others haven't started molting yet. Thankfully my Easter Hatch pullets have started laying.
My Easter hatch and Mother's Day Hatch have started laying too but in a move of short sightedness, I only kept 1 of each

I am getting about 8/9 eggs a day from 14 layers. 3 of them are 2+ years old so doing alright. The coops and pens looked like a pillowfight gone bad before they were cleaned yesterday!

I am not really expecting any of the fourteen or so summer hatched pullets to start laying before January so any that do will be a bonus

but in the spring I'm gonna need a bigger egg basket

How rare are bantam Delawares I think my friend has one that they picked up a number of years ago at the fair.

It looks like a Del but at maybe 8/10 weeks old in size. It has quite a bit of barring on the tail (Its a hen) It has clean legs and in all ways looks like its a Del.

Its friendly like my dels are just a bit skittish of the larger chickens but very tame to humans.

I agree about the pullets being good for meat.
I just have a really hard time processing any girls. I think it stems from waiting for pol all these years.
You just want that egg. So I can't bring myself to do them .

It is 10'x20' feet and will be divided into a feed room and 3 chicken rooms. The flooring is cheap laminate (fake wood) and cost less per foot than plywood or linoleum.

How are your chickens doing? Did Ellie get to be a mom?
Wow that's awesome! The floors look great!

They are doing well, I think they had their first molt but they didn't lose as many feathers as I thought they would. We are still working on getting their new coop built at their new home. No, she didn't. Joe's grandma kept taking her and Honey's eggs away until they gave up. Really agitated me as I wanted her to be a mom.

More likely a Bantam Colombian Rock.

I have heard that Bantam Delawares do exist but they are so rare that the odds of someone ending up with one and not knowing what they had are pretty slim.

I gotta say, having chicks is so cool that I can see it becoming addictive. I'm prerty sure I can probably sell chicks to Pollinate if I decide I want to hatch them next summer.
