Sorry for the chick losses! What a kind neighbor!

I wanna see video of the chicks chasing the crickets! Lol

A bit of amazing news... I got 4 Crele Orp chicks and 3 New Hampshire chicks from Debs_Flock! So exciting!!! And not chicken related but my goat is pregnant now too! A good day on the Doza farm. :)

Hello Lady Eight Machines, and Pony Feather,
I seriously doubt that the alteration in the interior decorating has anything to do with your hen's behavior. Maybe take down the curtains to see what happens. I agree with Pony Feather. Okay. I'll bite; just what in Sam Hill is a pony feather? Do you have these hallucinations very often? (LOL)
Sincerely,
Neal, the Zooman

I'll try and get video.

Congrats on ALL the new additions!

Just though some of you might want to see what can happen to an eggs that gets stuck for a week.
Egg on right was one that was stuck in a peahen for over a week. Egg on left is the color of all peafowl eggs laid here.

She did this twice this year. Very scary trying to get her to pass it and the soft-shelled one that was right behind it.

Interesting to see, glad you got it out!

Hi - I'm actually on both I-5 and 99W in Willows. On the west side is I-5 and through town on the east is 99W.
Ha, I'm in Glenn County just outside of Willows. Welcome aboard.

Uhm...when do chickens usually molt? Fall, right? My laying hens are 1.5 years old and haven't molted yet. My aunt's birds are molting

The chicken house is almost ready for the chickens. We will be working on the room dividers today. There is an urgency to get them out of the old house before the tree falls on it.

wow this is nice
leg mites need to be smothered--with petroleum jelly or 50 50 diesel. ivormectin will not work because there is not blood flow.

Good mite information here.
I like to clean the legs with a 10% vinegar solution with water. then I use Vetrex

Thanks for the info. I'm not doing shipped chicks right now. Jason doesn't currently have any for sale.

Yes, in the fall.

Some of mine (welsummers) are in full molt, and others haven't started molting yet. Thankfully my Easter Hatch pullets have started laying.
