my serama hens comb is dark and shes letting my roo mate with her but no eggs what can i do to help her start laying or encourage laying

12 hours of light helps this time of year. light can be added in the morning or evening to get to 12 hours.

putting the rooster in with her does not make her lay eggs. Of course the eggs she does lay will be fertile.

A bit of red pepper flakes added to the feed is supposed to help with laying eggs too.

I lost my 3 old hens today. I'm thinking it was a raccoon. They were my best girls, and all were going to turn 7 this year. I found the bodies of two, but no trace of the third.

January is no problem. He shouldn't be crowing by then. He is a funny character - already acting all proprietary about his clutchmates. He'll be a good flock commanders. :)
I have a frizzled silkie pullet or 2 (maybe). I'll be ready to sell them about the same time in January.

This one is medium dark grey.

This one is the darkest & looks almost wooly.
Awesome! I want him to be happier in quarantine so I want him to have a buddy. Their crests are fabulous! This can be a game time decision but I would love to have a girl to be with him.

So sorry you lost them. I have senior citizens up here also and appreciate how easy they are to keep. No pecking order problems, they know where the nest boxes are and what they are for...

The other morning I think we had something prowling around the coops, all the boys were sounding off at 4:30 am. They haven't been at it that early lately.
