Eric isn't home now to give me a name for it but they are trees pests. We see them quite often when we peel the bark off the fire wood. If you start to see areas of sawdust in your wood stack they are the ones marking it. They are so creepy ugly!

Does it turn into a black beetle?

I'm not sure, they end up in the wood stove usually. They are not a critter we want here, they feed on the cambian layer. We find most of them in firs and pines. I'll see if I can find his beetle key, Eric is at a noxious week conference in Corvallis for the next few days.

Oh interesting! Thank you. Hopefully I didn't bring onto my property these things to terrorize my fruit trees

Oh I quite agree! I should have and chiqita told me the same. I mean, I give them mealworms and BSF. But i was so creeped out by it being in my house. It thoroughly grossed me out. I know I sound like a baby, but I had to change my clothes because I kept thinking something was on me. I think because it took me by surprise, being in my home, I just wanted it gone.
All those other larvae gross me out too, but this one threw me for a loop today! I guess you can call me Sissy Chrissy lol! I think because I didn't know where exactly it came from and how many more there were.
That was my second thought...

tommysgirl, your eggs are packed and ready to go to the PO. I sent you a PM. Do you want me to write on the box requesting them to call you for pick up? This is my first time shipping eggs. I'm as nervous as a new mama!
