California - Northern

I have a FBCM cockerel and a FBCM hen and a splash Marans hen. Will be putting some eggs in the incubator tomorrow or Wednesday. I live 30 miles west of you in Newman. Have to wait and see what hatches in three weeks. I believe I am right in that we might get some blues from the splash? Kern

Awesome! will you let me know how they hatch. Newman isn't that far at all.

its coming from inside her nose. will she be ok if shes not showong any other signs?

Don't know. Could be any number of things. Watch her close and separate her from the rest. Some others may know what treatments might be good.

Was it you who just cleaned your coops? Could be some left over caustic agent giving her problems.

Here is what Ive found on BYC about it

Oh dear that Infectious Laryngeotracheitis (ILT) is really bad stuff. Good Luck. I hope your problems are not that.

i think i know what happen one of our dogs got out earlier and chased everyone. i think she may of bumped her beak/nose. would that make it bleed?
i looked up the ILT and shes not exhibiting any of that. just the bloody nostril

OK, I'll keep an eye out for them. Sociable ones are fun, but I don't mind having a small pigeon aviary where they just get to be pigeons and let me watch, too. I can spend waaaaay too much time watching feral pigeons when I am trying to destress at work.
Here are Speckles (hen, on L) & GrayBird (cock, on R):

See why I couldn't resist? So pretty.
I know they're better iff with me than the feed store but I still feel badly for them because I don't have the ideal housing for them, though.

and here is Sonny-boy
Nice turkey photo-bomb there at the bottom

He has the pretty speckle feathers on top of his rump as well as below (hard to see in this pic)

Here's a couple of baby pics of him (toooo cute!)
Squee!

Look at that face...awww

Neat lacing

I'd say my new girls are settled into quarantine...

I saw the remains of a soft-shell egg first thing this morning, too.

So my non chickeny husband actually knows the names of the breeds I have.
He mentioned the orpingtons, so I asked "do you know what other breeds I have?"
He named them off "Bresse, black copper Marans, blue copper Marans, and legbars (cream)"
He actually DOES listen when I'm rambling on about chickens ;)

:thumbsup. That is great that he listens!
