It's kind of hart to keep up with you today! I love it.

You should go ahead and give them Ivomectin(or the generic version)

At 12 weeks that Parasites becomes more common than Cocci.

Ron
I was thinking of treating ALL the chickens except the big 24 weekers (they are amazingly fabulous and fat and sassy and perky and fluffy...and SQUATTING lol- so maybe laying soon?) and also not treating the banties (breeder treated them right before giving them to me). If I treat the hennies (who are acting totally fine) we cannot eat the eggs right? Or should I treat them even though they are just fine just to be sure and feed them all back their eggs when they start laying?

Sorry for all the posts guys- REALLY! I have been cleaning and all around busy and had time today and I barfed all over the thread.

No Problem.

I seems like most people hatch up to three per dozen with the TJ's eggs. Four dozen should get you close to 6 pullets. If they were hatched now, they would be laying in Feb to March.

You can eat any chicken. All of them make great chicken stock--It just takes more of them if they are too little. I spent some time looking for white Leghorn hatching eggs--I found some out of Florida but the Feedback said the eggs were packed in wood chips!

Quick Question, do MF Leghorns lay enough for you?

Ron
Was that directed at me? Do you mean Mille Fleur (trying to be hip with the abbrev's lol) Leghorns? Do they as well as the typical leghorn hen?

Quote: Ivermectin does not have a withdrawl period for eggs. It does for eating meat.

Let me know if you need instructions.

The 24 week ones that are squatting will lay an egg for you within the week.

Ron
Quote: Yes, sorry Amy that was for you. MF Leghorns are Mille Fleur. Cheryl or Shannon can answer how well they lay but my guess is that they lay high and are good for feed conversion ratio. Also, they are a Mediterranean breed and would be heat tolerant.

I like the way you think

I need a chicken binder! I have a tablet but after I cleaned my office yesterday. It was in horrible horrible shape. I will try to post a before and after. It's on my phone but Tapatalk isn't working with BYC for some reason. Anyway- now that my office is clean I am missing a TON of print outs I had. Go figure.

I have the pour on Ivermectin so we would be dosing each chicken by hand- on their vent and somewhere else it said on the handout I printed out that is likely shredded by now. If it wasn't in an envelope I chucked it because it was really that bad in here. If you have instructions I will print it out and shove it in my chicken tablet - it has a pocket at least!

My husband and I are going to dose them tonight. If it won't hurt the eggs then I will dose my big hennies too. I must have it backwards- the Corid has a 2 week withdrawal for eggs right? Or was it something else?

The MF's are very very pretty to look at AND they sure would blend in better than a white chicken for sure! If they are great layers with good feed conversion I am game for a pretty chicken.

Quote: Hi Amy,

Yes, both the pouron and the injectable do not get into the eggs. Dosage is not that critical either in that it will not harm them if you give them too much. Just remember to retreat after 10 days.

Give the 24 week old some cayenne pepper. That and the ivermectin and they will be laying real soon.

Cheryl would know as hers have been laying for a while. I now have Shannon's quad but they just started to Lay do I'll have to let you know. :)

Many of my hens start laying again soon after the winter solstice (Dec 21). The shortest day of the year behind them, with the daylight hours increasing, seems to be the natural cue for them to resume laying eggs. So "Spring" to your pullets may be the beginning of Winter on the calendar.
I like that, since Dec 21 is my b-day. I am now hoping for 30+ eggs a day from ALL my ladies, LOL!!!

Anyone who has had a necropsy done...the form is asking me what 'specimen type' and what 'tests requested'. I honestly have no idea. Anyone help?

Which address do I mail it to...Davis...Turlock...Tulare...
