California - Northern

HI ALL!! not to be abroken reord but does anyone know where I can get some local guinea keets? I am looking for 3 at least a week old. I will be driving to get them so preferably in northern California.
Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the suggestions. I actually gave them a 2 tsp. per gallon the first week, then 1/2 tsp the second week, then 1 tsp. per gallon the 3rd week. They are also on medicated feed.

Do you have a link for how to send the sample to UCD? Also, should I be keeping them indoors until this clears up? Thanks!

Yes!

Can I feed my chickens baked beans?
We have 8 quarts of baked beans left over from a friends wedding.
I usually try to spread out the leftivers. As in not to much of one thing in one day. And careful if they're the sugary baked beans....

Anyhow I have an incubation question everyone.... I let my shipped eggs settle room temp 24 hrs then set them in the turner but left it off. How many days should I incubate before turning on the turner?

No more than two days--Turning is important too so unless they are detached--air cells move down to the middle of the egg--It is best to turn them.

After a couple days I would candle to see if any air cells are detached before using the turner otherwise I would hand turn just slightly keeping the bottoms up =) good luck

Do you know what was used for seasoning? If heavily salted then don't feed every day. If onions or onion powder or onion salt was used in the preparation then I would say no. Onions for dogs and chickens acts to produce leukemia-type symptoms and can actually kill a small animal the size of a Silkie Terrier or make a larger animal ill. Ppl fed ther Silkie some leftover steak smothered in onions. It got so ill the vet couldn't save it and it died a week after eating the ppl-food. Hey, I'm not a doctor, just a messenger.

Depending on how specific you want diet info I use the following reference: http://www.poultryhelp.com/toxicplants.html
