Quote: Yep. Peritonitis (also called internal laying) is where a yolk drops into the abdomen instead of going through the process and coming out an egg. An infection develops, and the bird dies. There is nothing you could have done.

you mean you arent searching for fertile eggs or (determining if Sylvester is doing his job)Well, I think I have a broody. Babs has not been off the nest (that I've seen) in two days. Not even when I took treats out and Sylvester called all the girls. I had to rummage around under her last night to retrieve eggs. Anyone localish got a wire broody breaker they can loan me if she's still in there this weekend?
Im in that boat too I was looking at no crow collar directly the other outlets seem to mark up quite a bit.Hi all,
I have a question regarding rooster collars. I have a super over enthusiastic bantam Cochin who crows loudly ALL THE TIME lol!!!! He is young and hopefully once he's not a teenager he will settle down. Where is the best place to purchase a collar? Does anyone have experience using one? I don't want to hurt him on accident. Please advise, thank you.

No. I A) don't have room for any more chickens and B) have to travel a bunch next month and really don't want to ask friends to deal with chicks or monitoring the adults and chicks.
Thank you. I have plenty of socks that I could try that with. You might try the rolled baby sock method that a lot of people seem to be having success with. There are directions here on the forum somewhere, but basically you just cut off the foot and roll the top and slip it over his head and down into place.
But what if we wanted to take them off your handsNo. I A) don't have room for any more chickens and B) have to travel a bunch next month and really don't want to ask friends to deal with chicks or monitoring the adults and chicks.
Yes!
Peritonitis is an infection. They will grow cultures to try to figure out what bacteria it was.
This is good news! No Mareks cancer, fungus or etc. Your flock is safe, thank god!
