Oh no I am sorry. Not even the Broodies have hatched? Give it a couple more days.

Nope, not sure what went wrong. Maybe it's because the broodies were in the coop with the other chickens this time; and I know the other chickens were bothering them a lot. But I guess there is still time, I will give it another day or so I think.

One of the EE's hatched! It hatched with some yucky stuff and a bloody navel though. I think my incubator is having issues because I had the same problem last Spring. I have another pip so maybe I will have another chick in the morning. I'll check on the broodies in the morning too & see if they hatched anything.

Somehow I found myself ordering 6 chicks to be shipped here tomorrow too! I panicked, lol. Like I really need a bunch more chickens. Oh well, the broodies will be happy.

2 chicks! The brown one's navel has scabbed over now but it has a little piece of shell stuck to it. I am just going to leave it there though cause I don't want it to start bleeding again. They will go to the hens tomorrow but today we are going to keep them inside & play with them. :)

the sooner they can go to broodies the better I find broodies and older chicks have trouble adjusting to each other sometimes

I put them out this evening since the chicks were doing so well. One of the hens started pecking one of the chicks so I put it under the other hen's wing. I'll go out and check on them first thing in the morning and see if the chick is being accepted. The hens are brooding together so it really has to be accepted by both hens.

Keep an eye on it. I had this happen in my last hatch. It had an infection and died before I could treat it. By the time I realized it needed antibiotics it was to late. :(

That chick is doing great so far. I had a super late hatcher last night though, and she has the same problem but is doing much worse. She also has spraddle leg. Don't know if she will make it but we'll see.

Usually means low temp and a developmental problem. Ive tried a number of times to correct splayed leg issues to no avail. We used a rubber band fed through a small amount of drinking straw which seemed to work the best but we have also tried putting them in a top of a water bottle bed. to ensure they didnt get run over and messed with. That seemed to work pretty well for a while but some chicks managed to escape them.
