California - Northern

Fiona has been making the strangest, growling noises at any bird that comes in the coop as well as at me when I check for eggs. Monet thinks that she sounds like a deep voiced penguin! I think that she is plucking some of her feathers because for the past 2 days, whenever I check on her, she has a feather stuck to her beak. It is only a matter of time until her chest and stomach is bare! Crazy bird to go broody in the late fall!

Once they act like they are in a coma.....................growl at you (but not always, some hens are nice).................you can literally tip them onto their side to look under them for eggs...........they only get out of the nest very briefly once per day, if at all...................

That is broody.

Oh good to know. I will discourage her for now but if she gets all crazy like Pet's- I will get some TJ eggs or even some of PapaBrooders EE eggs to shove under her. I am no rush but it will be fun to have my first broody experience.

Are you sure that you want to risk them with a young, first time broody? What was your experience with the Coro's and broodiness?

Actually I only had one go broody once, if she's still broody for 4 more days, lets do it... please let her sit on 6-8 eggs and see if she will stay broody

Okay! The count starts now! I'm not sure if I should root for her to stay broody or not! You do know how I love having chicks so I'm game. I just hope that she is a good sitter and mama!

Cheryl- what is the name of the show in Stockton and what are the dates/date so I know when to head up there? Thanks!
Cheryl is probably out working with the chickens.
