California - Northern

BTW, how did the new birds settle in over the weekend?

they're doing much better with the rest of the younger flock, although maggie the basque is still low man on the totem pole -- but she's learned to scamper up into the hen house if anyone's being mean, and they seem to leave each other alone while in there!

re: the cut foot, i won't be able to go get any products this evening, and am a little concerned about leaving her in the enclosure all night by herself, as it's been so chilly at night -- and unfortunately i have a long non-stop day at school tomorrow, so i won't be able to do any first aid until late in the day. once it stops bleeding, are the others still likely to peck at it? should i maybe go down once it's dark and put her in the henhouse with the others so she won't get too cold?

edit: having realized they can't see at night & so shouldn't bother her foot, i've put her in for the night, & will see how things look in the morning before school.

Hi Jason,

I would love to help you with this project!!! As you know I too am a Pene Fan. I will not be much help until after the X-mas season since I will be hocking trees LOL, but come Jan. I am completely game to help out.

I have an account on Weebly, which is where I host my websites. I am allowed 8 more site for the same monthly fee. We can host the site there if you want. Weebly has easy to use templates etc.... Here are the two sites I already have hosted under my account. You can see, the templates are clean and easy to navigate

I wanted to post a picture of my decease Crele Penedesenca Roo to inspire other people to help bring this incredible breed back from the brink. My roo past away last summer due to a broken leg so I don't have chicks or eggs available. However... I believe Jason will soon be able to hook you up with eggs and/or chicks.

RIP Buddy

That is awsome. What a nice looking rooster. We will have to talk about the site for sure.

so on a sadder note I came home today to one less rooster in the coop. I am in the process of trying to rehome the icelandic's however the rooster was missing tonight. everyone else there. My chicken area is a huge 120x75-100 ft area with 6 foot chain link fence.
About 5 feet in was a beak and a huge pile of feathers and that is it. Something had to of gotten him by air or jumped the fence. Which scares me because I dont want them getting into the penedesenca's or empordanesa. I have not seen anything like that in a run. They get out? that is different but not in there.

I am so sorry!

I hope you figure out what got him.

I took pictures today.
This is the EO Basque, Leela. She is a week older than the TJs chicks. The one in the back is a Partridge Penedesenca.

These are the two not broody EO Basque Hens.

this is the Broody Basque hen. I wonder how many eggs she could cover.

These are the Dorking Crosses. Look at the size of the breast in the second picture of them

I have to include the Heritage RIRs. The second picture has the most beautiful Beetle colored tail.

My BA is looking much better after the Molt.

This is a Silkie? From Shantih(Chiquita)

This is the Show girl from Shantih.
