This concludes my duck buying for a couple years. I want to concentrate on the Appleyards and working on re-homing the breeds I want to weed out. Then when I feel ready I want to add more Welsh Harlequins (I flip flop with wanting Runners or WHs). We really need to get the geese in their own home when we are done with the chicken coop. They are super bossy lol. Can't wait to see them. I'll have to live vicariously through you.
Holy smokes that was fast! My ducklings will be here Friday or Saturday!
I'm scrambling. haha! I am glad I have done this before. I know what I need, have most of what I need actually. Just need to throw it together. Keep them in my office because the Christmas tree is kind of a space hog and the dog might bark at them. I am so excited!Hope your brooder is ready!
If I didn't love Orps so much I might go with the Barnevelders for a broody breed. They sure are lookers!
I know we are on the front end of this storm. Ewww!

Ohh Partridge? Those are drOP dead gorgeous. Like yum! No to English Orps. I actually rather prefer the American build. I also do not feel they would like our 110 degree summers- their legs are buried in feathers it looks like. The Orps weathered our Summer. I know the misters helped. I am psyched about the Leghorns. They should breeze through Redding summers.I love orpingtons too! I just won my first pair on Partridge Orpingtons from Greenfire Farms the other day on RareBreedAuction.com. im working on my second now![]()
Were you still looking for English buff Orps? There is a lady on the imported English orpington thread who is selling juveniles. I think the eggs came from Marc Sacre. One of the best breeders of English Orps in the United states currently. If your interested, ill get her info for you.
I was temtpted lol
My coops got here!! I'm super excited! They are really nice coops! Me and the builder (Thanks Jeremy) just finished unloading them and setting them in place.
Im gonna eat these sandwiches, then GO PICTURE CRAZY!!
And the sun is shining here!![]()
I will be re-homing a trio (Buff ducks) this Spring (if I can bear to part. it's harder for me to let go of the ducks over the chickens for some reason) if you want to try them out full grown. They are incredibly easy to care for if you have a pond. Gotta train them to come to the coop at night but pretty easy. Not prone to any diseases. Fun to watch for sure.I have 2 big all year round ponds here on my property. I was thinking about getting some water fowl.
