You're welcome! I love searching for things on the internet!.
About the coop PetRock found for me. I emailed the person twice yesterday and this morning when I woke up there was a voicemail from them telling me they have the coop still and i can come and get it. I'm going to go check it out after the winds slow down some.
Thanks PetRock. Hopefully its in good condition when I get there and can use it.
Those little germ carriers...and then they don't even seem to get sick themselves, just bring it home and infect the house! Hope you feel better soon, you know that chicken soup really does help with a cold! Sorry about your girl, must have been very disappointing.Home made bread sounds good, maybe I'll make some too if I can find the energy. Mine probably won't come out as good as Ron's though. But it'll be good with chicken soup.
Now my rant.....I really am getting sick of being sick. I caught a cold (my kids too) just before Thanksgiving. It keeps evolving into new forms....... First a sore throat and basic head cold, then started coughing and lost my voice. Mike knows about that LOL, but now at least I have my voice back. A few days ago it turned into a chest cold and sinus pressure. Now the sore throat is back, I have a swollen lymph node on my neck, my ear is starting to hurt and I have a low grade fever (the fever came and went the whole time).
I may have to get antibiotics now (which I hate taking)...,this is ridiculous. So I'm here in isolation (no visitors) but the storm is going to keep us home anyway. My kid's both have a bit of the "cold" too. I think they keep bringing new germs home from school. I personally think elementary school is an Evil Experiment of Bio-warfare.
Oh, so far we are ok here storm wise. I did loose a pullet to a broken leg, she tried to fly over the fence because she was tired of being penned up. Sadly she broke her leg...she was one of my best blues this year.
everyone else will make it through this next storm.![]()

I love my ladder roost. Everyone is much happier then trying to all get on the same one and I also use the full 2x4, less falling off when someones trying to find a spot.Cheryl. I definitely need to tweak some stuff on these coops. I need MORE roost space and I agree with you on the 2x4's. Especially for the Brahmas.
Im excited to hear more about your Breese program in Cabo. This coming spring I'm gonna be doing my own Breese experiment with goats milk. I'm going to setup a similar area to what they would have had in france dedicated only for them.
Ron. I like frogs Lol I just hate those big toads you can't see at night time that you end up kicking because they are always in the way.
Someone told me my property is super fertile. That's why frogs like Boeing there. But I think if the duck snacked on them from time to time, it wouldn't be a bad thing.

Just beautiful!
I think they should go back in by now. My older roos don't normally try to breed a pullet until they're big enough....the JR cockerels....they try to mount anything the moves! Sorry about your little duckling too.Question: My little Leghorn pullets have been in the coop (inside a large wire dog kennel) for a week. Do you think it is long enough for them to come back 'home' or they need longer? And Ron- how old are they? Right now only my tiny bantam rooster is with all the ladies and I am not worried about him hurting them. He is actually quite the gentleman. But eventually I will put my other 2 roosters (cockerels) in the coop with them all but I want to wait until the LHs are old enough to be around my big cockerels (a marans and a buff orp).
I'm not allergic to the pine shavings (thankfully since I LOVE the smell of new shavings), but I do get a little itchy rash on my arms from hay (we have horses so I don't have any choice but to handle it) and I get the same rash when I dig through the tomato plants. Mine goes away when I wash my arms off but since yours is airborne maybe you could wear one of those paper masks while you do chicken chores. May just be enough to stop you from getting the symptoms.Ok one more post. Sorry haha. I have recently into being allergic to pine shavings. I have issues messing with hay (which we no longer use). And now I have issues with pine shavings. Runny sneezy burning nose and eyes...red eyes. Nice! And every time I add shavings to the brooders or coops it gets worse. Anyone else suffer from this? So weird. It's wood chips for petes sake. Benadryl helps slightly but makes me uber tired. Do you think one of the claritin type things would be useful here?
I actually saw them at Costco a couple of months ago. I realize all Costco's don't carry the same things and just because they are there today doesn't mean they will be tomorrow.Totally off topic...my puppy loves bully sticks. They are pricey. I did find them at Petco - they are like 18 inches long or something for $12. We cut them into 3 sticks. So far that seems to be the cheapest way to get them. We don't do rawhide so this is her chewy thing. Anyone know of a place that might sell them cheaper? (and i would like to note that those things smell so foul when she is eating them gag. and yes i know exactly what they are. haha! my kids gag when they smell her eating them)
Have you thought of giving her raw beef bones? They are excellent for the teeth and to keep puppies from chewing up your whole house. I get mine from a local (ranch) butcher in Cottonwood. $5 buys a big box of them. I keep the bones frozen (doggie Popsicles) and give them out to keep the dogs busy. I'm just careful to not let the dogs run off and bury the bones...old rotten bones stink. I take the bone away from them after awhile and drop it in a bag and re freeze for the next time. My two labs are almost 5 and 6 year's old and their teeth are as white as a puppy's. No bad breath either.Totally off topic...my puppy loves bully sticks. They are pricey. I'm enjoying a much needed day off today. Probably my last until Christmas....oh, the joy of owning a gift shop and wine bar during the holidaze!
I have so much to do but here I am catching up on BYC after playing with the puppy! Our Christmas tree is up but so far consists of one strand of light that I threw to the top of the tree and then just went side to side so we could at least enjoy some lights on it. It's been that way for a week but I haven't gotten home from working the bar until 9pm all week. Was there until almost midnight last night mopping floors and doing dishes because there's no time to do that during the days!
Here's some pictures of our new puppy Kate. I posted them over on the Nevada? page but wanted to share them with ya'll too.
Our old lab Gracie was not to thrilled with the new family member but she's now playing with her and letting her crawl all over her. They're both after a ball that rolled under the couch.

At first Gracie wouldn't allow her on her bed but Kate snuck up and crawled in. I think Gracie is acting like she didn't notice.
Ummm, puppies chew....
....and dig...

....and sleep.

My dog stole one from the shelf and ate the whole 12inch rawhide stick.... the aftermath... well... you don't want to know...I actually saw them at Costco a couple of months ago. The absolute worst smell in the world.....................them chewing on hooves!!!If I had a vomit icon, I'd upgrade, LOL.![]()
