Congratulations!Thank you to all who gave me pointers re. where to find Swedish Flower Hens. I have been in touch with and visited the website of papabrooder and am looking forward to getting a couple of chicks next spring.
Yay! I am so excited for you! If I hadn't already settled on Mille Fleur Leghorns- I might have gone for those. They are really pretty!Thank you to all who gave me pointers re. where to find Swedish Flower Hens. Blasted hawks. I think I will hold off on trimming their one handy natural defense. I hope they will stay close to home. We did have 1 big Buff go into the neighbors yard a few weeks ago. She couldn't get back. Too fat to hop over the fence (she climbed a one way branch over to get there). We had to corner her in their yard and toss her over. At least the leghorns will be able to dash in and out I guess. But if it's a problem I will trim their wings- I don't want annoyed neighbors. :|![]()

Wow, zoowee, you're on a roll! I was going to make a foundation for a couple pens back in November....... well, I still haven't even got any boards yet..... LOLOk now that yesterday is over. Foundation set. Now to get floor boards attached to coop. Woot!
Not only did we have a record storm yesterday BUT by the days end we had 11 duck eggs ( we only have 11 female ducks) which means ALL my ducks are now laying. Yessss! Plus 4 chicken eggs...which means all 4 of my only laying chickens laid an egg. How crazy is that!
I cannot believe we are so close to 2013. :|
What's everyone doing bird wise today?
