I spent most of the morning securing my coop roofs after finding them all over the yard! :-( even found one panel one top of the barn. Well just checked again and found some of the ones that I didn't finish rattling quite a bit. Who knows what I'll find in the morning!? Storm storm blow yourself out!!
Mike I hope your hoop coops are holding strong. Sorry about the fence man!!

Hey Jeff!

Man its been a rough day. The hoop coops are DONE!! They are totally destroyed and a few of them are in pieces. It's a mess. I had to pack the 2 new coops with chickens and put chickens in the garag
Im feeling kind of discouraged! :(

I have to figure something out by tomorrow, have to try and find a few spare coops I could pick from people. The guy who's building my coops said he won't have the next 2 ready for another week. So its gonna be a interesting week.

How's the baby doing? Getting big already I bet ;)

Ah man. Sorry bout that! Such a bummer. The wind has been crazy and I fully expect to be repairing coop roofs in the morning. :-( Hope you can find something soon

Zach is doing great. He's just so small and fun to hold love him!!

This thing does move fast and hard to keep track of post. It seems like with this weather we are having , having Brody hens is almost non existing. I'm intereste in making a homemade incubator and have started to post on the incubating section does anyone have success with homemade incubators ?

I have never made one but there are a lot of plans for them online and i have talked with a lot of people that have made them and have great hatches. Love some of the ones I have seen made out of the wine coolers! I only do small hatches so use a Brinsea 20 and just bought a Brinsea Mini to use for hatching.
I dont want to have to depend on having a broody but am happy to have eggs under one when I do.

X2!
Hi nice to meet you!
I'm glad our NorCal family is growing strong! We need more chicken culture up here!
Nice to meet you as well! I have only been back "into" chickens for a short time after a long time layoff. I am accumulating some nice breeding stock, getting things set up properly and tyryng to remember all the things I once knew about keeping them safe and healthy.

So sorry for your losses... what a mess :( Im almost afraid to go out this morning... that wind was really something! I am most afraid of having one of our trees come down on the coop...

I have never made a incubator but, I do know that the GQF 1588 incubator is a great one...easy to use...great hatch rate!

Quote: Oh so sorry about the coops. The wind we had last night was awful. We lost power at 8pm and just got it back at 6:30. I'm so glad I don't have to be getting kids ready for school by candle light! Haven't checked on my chickens since yesterday morning...had school stuff and appointments and didn't get back until well after dark. The storm was in full swing by then. Hopefully they are doing ok.

Everyone else is weathering the storm. I guess #3 is going to hit tomorrow and be just as bad.

More wind coming, so today for emergency repairs. I need to clean out a plugged gutter before the next one....
