Hello everyone!  Pro tip: do not try to multiquote from the phone.
It is wet wet wet here! Other then that it is very not dry!

LOL :D

The new coops were NOT  in waterproof places at least not from this much water this fast.  So the legbar girls and the silkies are all in the extra bathroom/mudroom (viva  linoleum!)  I'm going to have to put the legbars on  cinder blocks and give it a floor, that area is a mud sty this morning.  Silkieland just needs a trench around it, I think, and it will be fine. It was almost fine this morning, if we were not expecting 3 days like this I would have left them.We did this last year for the main coop, trenched and  routed water.  It is also 2 tier and the girls mostly sleep upstairs,  but last year the ducks were downstairs and it was too wet.  easy enough to do once you see where the water goes.  unfortunately the answer in legbarland is.. everywhere. but at least its easy to  give a little coop a floor.

So now 2/3 of our bathrooms are chicken havens. Thank god everyone has left by now!

Here is the spare bathroom, Silkieland 2:

Scalpie is also  in there  with the 2 broodies for company. she seems happier. ( how can I post a pic in the spoiler  box? I cant get both boxes to be accessible at once)

Omg, my husband would kill me! Looks like something I would try though, LOL!

For those of you thinking about putting linoleum in your coops, Id suggest using a remnant ( great store in san rafael, but  they pop up everywhere) and not  sticking it down permanently. That way you can take it out  every once in a while and  really clean it.  That's what I do for my brooders and  such.  Ill do it for legbarland too.  Its dirt cheap and  easy to clean.  I was going to suggest that last night to monster on the coops, but i TOTALLY forgot. Bad chiquita, no cookies for you.

I agree, love the linoleum! I found a small roll at Lowes for around $20.

Zoo, if you are not looking for a bator till after new year, I'm guessing I will have an extra few once the monster  starts. I just font want to get rid of any  until I know that one  is up and running.

Put me on the list too. :D

Assuming DH can  fiddle wit it this weekend, I'm going to get a bunch of tj eggs  and try them for the new years hatch.  Anyone want  a zillion  tj chicks??

It just stopped raining here. Wonder how long that will last?

Still raining up here, maybe I'll get a break soon? Hopefully!

PS: car adaptors are also great for small incubator emergencies! and deb, MINE on the blue showgirl!

Are silkies bantam type small? My kids want some silkies or polish (for pets) but I don't want to add any big birds- I prefer they not eat much or take up much space if they are for pets.

Yes, they are small...and easy to catch. Great pets! My kids love them. :)

Called PO. They are on the truck from Sac to here. Be here around noon and they said they will call me. I might as well let them drive- it's a 3 hour drive one way for me.So 6+ hour round trip. Sometimes they offer to let a truck drive them out TO me- if they do I might take it. I have 4 kids here that I don't want to drag into the busy PO with me. haha!

I could send you mine when Papa Brooder picks up his little chicks. I have two silkies and a show girl that is probably a Cockerel.

Hi everyone! I have been keeping up with you guys, but haven't posted lately so just wanted to say hello!

It's been coming down in bucketfuls here in Santa Rosa, supposed to continue until Sunday. There's been some flooding, but not too bad, and fortunately not too windy and fairly warm (upper 50s). Hope everyone gets through the storm okay. The wind seems to be the worst culprit- sorry to hear about Mike's hoop coops.

My chickens are doing well. Got 7 eggs yesterday out of 9 pullets laying. My Welsummer just started laying last weekend at over 8.5 mos! I love the terra-cotta eggs and hers have the spots too! So pretty!

Amy, so excited for you about the ducklings! Not much longer now. Will be watching for pics!

Well, it just start raining even harder. Didn't think that was possible. Off to build an ark!

An "organized" New Years hatch????

Yes, they are small, sweet and make superb pets. And they are the absolute best broodies you'll find. People keep them just to hatch other breeds.
