Beautiful picture despite the naughtiness going on!

Mid morning, rain stopped. I took this. Notice the BAD little steers who went through the fence and are in the olive orchard!

i apologize in advance for the pictures. huge share! after the storm shots of some happy critters!

hardly glamorous. but they get to come out today! woot! it's a rather large crate so they weren't too unhappy.

my dudes. Gary aka GareBear and Chief. :D

You have some very nice looking chickens! Who would have thought those eggs from Trader Joes would turn into such pretty white Hawk Bait Chickens! Your Marans is great!

Deb, I would like to see a pic of how you used that runner on your coop. I think that I have the idea, though. I'd like to be able to do it in a way that doesn't look tacky, since those coops are the cute ones. I would love to have gutters on all my coops & barns for rainwater collection. That wouldn't help the leaky nest boxes, though. Both coops have eaves that should shelter the nest boxes but don't.
Kim,

Here is a photo. We stapled the runner along the top a few inches above the nest box. We just let the rest hang in a slant over the roof to direct the water down to the roofed part, instead of the seam. It doesn't impede opening and closing the nest box at all and it is clear. We then put a matching trim board along the top for stability and screwed it into place. It has been in place now for over a year (last year's leak) and hasn't shown any weathering at all. If you were still having any leak problem, it would be very easy to run a bead of caulk along the trim board.

It was one of my inspirations, but it's worked well for us.

Seriously. I am nervous about that part! We have a lot of trees, a lot of cover and the other chickens use it. I hope these girls learn to but even then white screams YUMMY to a hawk. Yikes! Thanks! I love that Marans. I named him Gary and he is quite pet like. If I have to get rid of him I will be so sad! He is last Marans standing and I feel like he is very handsome. but haven't gotten the SOP book yet so not sure how he fares there. I know I enjoy his colors and personality though. The Orp cockerel is very sedate and stand offish. Keeps to himself. Not my Marans guy- he will follow me around making that weird chicken noise "num num num num" sound.

the hawks will sit in the trees and dive bomb the white chickens :(

Sorry if this is not the right place to ask this but I am in Northern California and wondering if anyone will have Swedish Flower or Chantecler chicks available come spring. If this is the wrong spot let me know. Am looking over on the buy sell trade forum as well. Thanks
