I think I was out doing Chickens this morning when it hit!!! I was outside for over a hour. Wet and muddy....My husband FINALLY got off the couch to see what I was doing.....I said, "feeding and taking care of ALL the chicken before I go to work." Like I always do! He Said, "OK..." and went back in the warm house....REALLY!
Thanks alot Butt Head... LOL

LOL haha!

Just making sure the chickens weren't attacking you, huh?

next week I plan on converting my 5x3 grow up pen into another small chicken coop. I plan on building another small covered run and will put my two white empordanesa in there until I can hopefully hatch more or get another rooster. They are in a semi closed run with the big coop but I am still worried something will get them.

This is the plan as I redefine my flock. Eventually I will still have open runs once I move except the white empordanesa. I may partially cover them but plan on having larger 25x75 chicken yards and keep a few roosters with 12 hens of the main varieties. ( white empordanesa , crele ,black and partridge penedesenca
I will let the breeder culls be with my layer flock which I think will still include Blue and Black Ameraucana's and whatever culls I have with my crele partridge or black penedesenca.
I will probably not keep the white empordanesa culls as I do not want to attract anymore hawk attention. I am sure other breeds will make there way into the layer flock.
Like Jersey Giants , Sweedish Flower Hens and possibly Jarehorns.
Who knows.

So this is what happens when you're self employed and take a day off.....my art glass studio and the dance studio that rents part of our building was flooded from the storm last night....

of course the main flood drain in front of the building being clogged didn't help....

That's a good size chicken yard! I'm sorry you are having horrible issues with predation. This bites! Now I have to google Jarehorns. LOL
