Anyone here ever use the corrugated plastic or metal roofing to cover their coop?
What tool do you use to cut it properly?
stella socail club has a few emu owners on it, and they are a friendly bunch. Crazy but friendly. Tell Fred I said hi.... but dont let him at your teeth.

I was at Mary's and we walked down to see Lukka's chicks (which I brought home), I got my first emu bite. First they pulled my hair, then grabbed my arm, then we left the pasture,![]()

Have you ever tried this VERY absorbent bedding called "Dry Den"? It comes in a big pellet form and once wet it breaks up and expands. Smells good, low dust, and is cheaper than shavings. And when chickens scratch it up, it drys quickly. However the weather isn't getting my chooks into the mood of scratching around in their pen.I know. Wahhhh. I went out cleaned the poop boards, filled with fresh PDZ. A half bag of pine shavings on coop floor to help dry things out. Bleh! Same thing in duck coops but all fresh lay boxes.
Oh we already use it.Have you ever tried this VERY absorbent bedding called "Dry Den"? It comes in a big pellet form and once wet it breaks up and expands. That's what it's in the duck coop. I cannot use it in the chicken coop- it turns into a giant bog on the dirt floor since the water comes in. Huge waste of pellets. I put 2 bags down on the floor, it rained...the next days it was all mush. It's cheaper to do pine right now. When the new coop is done - it will NOT have a dirt floor so I can go back to using Dry Den in the chicken coop too. We use it in the duck coop...smells SO wonderful! I still use pine in the lay boxes though. And I scatter some of the shavings around the edges of the coop where the ducks sleep. We use PDZ, Dry Den and pine shavings! lol Each has it's function for us. I can't wait for the new chicken coop to be done. It will be all self contained. Off the ground. I love dry den, i have never used it for the chickens but used it for my Mini horses. Are you just filling the pens with the pellets? How long is it taking to break down.Have you ever tried this VERY absorbent bedding called "Dry Den"? It comes in a big pellet form and once wet it breaks up and expands. Oh, LOL. It does look pretty! I love how low dust it is. Sometimes the dust of pine shavings makes me cough pretty badly, so I hope the neighbors don't think I'm choking.Oh we already use it.That's what it's in the duck coop. I know you're asking him but this Summer I was using it in the chicken coop and I flat out loved it. It smelled wonderful for much longer than the shavings. It looked tidier for longer. I had about 16 chickens in the coop with it and it would go more than 2 weeks without much from me. For an 8x8 space I needed at least 2 bags for a thin layer- I liked thick though and did 3 bags. After that I just stirred it around and tossed a bag on as needed. Once every other week maybe? Only the coop though- not the run for me. Same thing for the ducks. I basically have a 10x10 for the ducks and use 6 bags when I do a full change. Then add a bag or two every 2 (sometimes 4) weeks or so...with the rain it's more often. I refresh with pine though...I usually dump out the lay boxes near the entrance to help re-use the shavings and absorb some of the rain water the ducks drag in when they come in for the night.I love dry den, i have never used it for the chickens but used it for my Mini horses.
