Thanks Molly.
I know what you mean. Everyone that i have met from this thread has been super cool and super helpful. We really are like family here.
The bielefelder chicks are doing great! I gave them save-a-chick when they first came home.Today i gave them 1/2 dose of Vitamins & electrolytes from duravet, and they are bouncing around the brooder! Its funny.
Something funny happened yesterday.
I was at hawes ranch getting hay and chick starter. The lady that's normally there asks what kind of chicks i got. So i told her about the bielefelders. About where they came from and about their rarity. Then she just interrupts me and says "Oh They're not that rare!" i said "umm, who has them?" Then says "Anna in Bella Vista!" "A few more people have them, but i don't know their names." I said ok. Ill have to look into this.
Does anyone know Anna in Bella Vista? She said she didn't know any last name or the name of her farm.
So i asked her if she ever is online on BYC or rarebreedauction dot com and she almost interrupts me again and says "No,never."
Lol I felt animosity coming from her for some reason.
Could she have been lying about Anna in Bell Vista? This is not the first time this same lady was rude or showed some kind of attitude toward me. I laughed them i walked out. But i don't think Im going back to Hawes Ranch.
I bet she ment appenspinzers or whatever they are called. I'm sure somewhere in Bell vista there is someone with a german chicken. AS an ex business owner, if that chick is not the owner, Id send them a polite letter saying specificaly who is making you uncomfortable. I know it helps owners ask for erm.. adjustments .. to their staff when they get called on being lets call it unprofessional. People don't realise they are being annoying sometimes and it really helps small businesses.

I am still excited aout those chicks! if this bell vista chick has some lets go mug her! (kidding!)

Lmbo!! I'm not worried about that lady. There is another really nice lady that works there and I enjoy her service a lot more.

Im excited too! I should have a laptop and internet this week, so I'm gonna start their thread soon. Maybe even a blog!

My silkie didn't make it through the night. I feel terrible that it must have suffered through its last breath. Wish I could have done something differently.
I'm so sorry she didn't make it.

I know you would have done whatever it took to save her -if you had known what was wrong. That's the hard thing about animals....not being able to communicate and find out their problem.

We should set up a chick cam for them and call them the beibs. Then we would get a million preteen chicks watching and we could make all your money back!

What is the smallest hole that chickens and ducks can fit through? I have cayuga ducks and LF chickens.

I have serious issues with my stupid goats. They keep breaking into my chicken coop and eating all the food. I have resorted to a a 5x7 hole. Is that too small? Last night all the birds figured it out except one duck.

That's an awesome idea!! I wonder what they would think once the cam starts and shows two little chicks peeping around?? It might be a big hit! :D

My chicken doors aren't too much bigger than a 5x7. It might just take your duck another night to get idea of the smaller hole.
I hope your goat doesn't try and squeeze through that hole! Or that might be a REALLY good picture!

The door to my coop is a foot wide and I have seen two of them go out of it at once in the morning

I have to say I am so terribly sad. what happened today back east is the most horrible thing that I can remember.
I have 2 little kids and will spend the rest of the night hugging them.
