California - Northern

Deb, it was so nice meeting you and your hubby yesterday... Thank you so much for the quail eggs. I still can't believe they hatch in 15 days and lay at 6 weeks old. That's crazy! And YES I'm a closet silkie lover!

those show girls are so flipping cute.
You are an enabler for sure....not sure how I feel about that... LOL
Jason, get with Deb and figure out when you can come get Bamboo. My son has been busy working. He works for UPS.
TIZ the season...
i can come and dig n leave them in the pots even if Deb can not be there she can come and get them afterwords. Unless she wants to be there to supervise what she wants.

Hello Everyone! I am somewhat new to BYC but I have had plenty of chickens before when I lived in Alaska.

Just moved here to California a few months ago and am just now getting around to restarting my flock. I have *so far* 2 Blue English Orps, 1 Buff Silkie, 1 Red Sex Link, and 1 Cuckoo Marans. I also have 13 Basque (EO), 10 Wheaten Marans, 6 Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, 24 Lemon Blue Bantam Cochin, and 6 Silkie hatching eggs in my two home made incubators. I also set 5 dozen Trader Joe eggs in another home made incubator to test a microcontroller device I am working on.

I hope to find some local people who would be interested in these little chicks, except the TJs as I have people lined up for those. But the rest are up for grabs depending on how they develop for the NYD Hatch Along. I plan on keeping a couple from each breed for myself but we shall see what happens with the rest of the little peepers. I just hope they all hatch! Anyways, I look forward to getting to know you all as I have never had so many neighbors so close by before!!

Thanks Molly.

I know what you mean. Everyone that i have met from this thread has been super cool and super helpful. We really are like family here.

The bielefelder chicks are doing great! I gave them save-a-chick when they first came home.Today i gave them 1/2 dose of Vitamins

I bet she ment appenspinzers or whatever they are called.  I'm sure somewhere in Bell vista there is someone with a german chicken.   AS an ex business owner, if that chick is not the owner, Id send them a polite letter saying specificaly  who is making you uncomfortable. I know  it helps owners ask for erm.. adjustments .. to their staff when they get called on being   lets call it unprofessional.  People don't realise they are  being annoying sometimes and it really helps small businesses.

I am still excited  aout those chicks! if this bell vista chick has some lets go mug her! (kidding!)

I was just getting ready to post the same thing. Having gone through 7 employees in the last year, 5 since July, and hearing horror stories about things the employees did or said (not counting abhorring work ethics), I wish people would speak up sooner. Always tell the owner because its probably not just you who got treated so poorly!

Good morning everyone!

Welcome Brechin! Love those ears in your avatar. Your signature line is interesting. We used to do SchH. years ago. I switched to English Shepherds since we are now on a ranch. My husband still has a GSD with a German sire. It's too bad that you are so far away. I'd love to have a partner for my business here on the ranch. Too much to do for one person.

Welcome, Brechin! I think that I am in the city right next to yours! We will just leave the cities unnamed.

Are you ready to start selling Dorking chicks this year?

Let me know when you are ready to hatch more!
