California - Northern

Just put some homemade bread in the oven...There's nothing like fresh warm bread on a cold day. I also caught ANOTHER wicked cold from my kids. Just got over the last one and wham...another one. School is germ warfare!!! Of course my kids aren't nearly as sick as DH and I.

I think I'm going to make some more chicken soup from one of my cockerels in the freezer. Maybe that will help make us feel better too.

what is the best wormer? have to do it soon. saw some worms in the poop.want the easiest to give and least toxic
I like Valbazen. Make sure you redose in 10 days.

Good luck with the house - I hope it finishes soon so you can get moving.

Oh no. Hope you guys feel better soon.

No snow here, but it's cold and very dark out.

thanks just cold and dark as well. looks like the bulk is staying west of the foothills so far.

They all look so happy!!

Lol they were enjoying pasta too!

did you go the swap?  i've wondered about that swap but never been.
yup, we actually had it sticking for a while, kids playing in it and throwing snow/ice balls.  fun and super crazy!
nice, they look much drier than my chickens!  mangy wet messes they all are.  bout to put some sand in my runs. gonna buy bulk.  what kind of sand is best when buying in the 2-3 cubic yard amounts?

Yea play sand or river bed sand I heard is the best.

I did stop by there. Maybe 20+ people. I've been there before in the summer and it was packed with about 100+ people. I didn't take any chickens with me. People had a lot of game chickens and ducks. Almost got talked into a few ducks. But I had some restraint today Lol.

When are you getting roosters processed? I have got to get these Cornish x processed. They are eating me out of house and home.

38° here on Sonoma Mtn, so no snow, but very cold rain. chickens disappointed, but cats all asleep by the woodstove. this was finals week at school, and i haven't been able to keep up with this chattery place at ALL -- still have some grading to do, but at least things are calming down...

stay dry and warm, everyone!

I thought it was cold here in Oakland today and it's only 50ish degrees! We got some light rain this afternoon, it's getting dark now, our lows should be around 38 degrees tonight.

The chickens don't seem too happy with the rain but my Saxonies LOVE the wet weather. Silly ducks. Their goofy antics make doing chores out in the wet and cold a little bit more bearable.
