He will settle in. He is probably wondering where he is and calling out for his girls... Wait til he falls in love and he will be fine.

It's been really sad liquidating all my beautiful breeder birds but my passion for my backyard flock has been renewed. Quite a few of my pullets are getting close to lay and my anticipation for a full eating egg basket has returned. I'm excited to be able to give them all names again.
Sarah is bringing me two of sir Giles babies for my flock. So excited about their addition to my very spotted and speckled flock!
Abby my old speckled Sussex that always goes broody at least twice a year still has 5 of the show quality babies she hatched following her around, they are 4 months old and HUGE, at least they don't all follow her into the nest box anymore! She had been trying to lay with 5 fat birds all sitting on and around her!
The waterproof run has become a muddy wet mess. Next up trying to diagnose the issues with the French drains and leaking roof

Sounds almost like a chicken vacation. Remove the work, keep all your faves for eggs and just enjoy. I hope this really removes a lot of the stress from your life right now. <3 I'm sorry about the leaky stuff though. That's never fun.

Oh I'm such a blabber mouth this am! My last son now 20 finished his auto mechanic schooling at the top of his class and got invited with a full scholarship to be in the BMW school in Phoenix. So proud it was his dream. He left at 5am to drive to Phoenix. I miss him already but with all my boys I'm so happy to kick them out so they can follow their dreams

It's always great when somebody gets to work at what they love, it shows in their work.

I must have the friendliest chickens. One of my Heritage RIRs(Stella) jumps the fence each day and hangs out by herself in the back yard. Last night I let the Dorking Crosses out to clean the hutch and Stella joined in with them. Usually at night I go out to let her into the chicken yard but last night she was not waiting at the gate. Sure enough, she was roosting in the hutch with the Dorking Crosses!

No blood, fighting or any problems!

I moved her back to the chicken yard and all is well now.

With the rooster addition the hens regardless of their seemingly happy in love disposition, are sort of up in arms about the changes, they will settle in

It took my girls a while to get used to a boy. in particular when we got " the cougars" 4 little silkie hens that were up for adoption because they were broody all the time and didn't lay , came to town. They were HORRIFIED to meet roosters. Iggy tore down the barrier I had between them and got into their coop the first day, discussing his love incessantly. That was bad enough but then his sister Ester got in and beat them up for attracting Iggy's attention.. took them a while to get used to it.

But once they get used to it, they love their boys. They will all be Garry and Betty in no time.

OK, its so wet I decided i may as well worm while I'm getting no eggs. How much invermycian per chicken and can you do 10 or 12 week olds? You all will get me answers faster then the Internet!

As I mentioned a few days ago, I made it my 2012 resolution to eat one of my chickens. Being the wimp I am, I waited til 12/30 to fulfill that resolution. Nothing like a little procrastination. I decided to make Cog Au Vin, which turned out delicious. Here are a couple of pictures:

I love living on the Coast but we also get sunshine deprived at times. We often have lunch up on the bluffs and do whale watching this time of year. Beautiful picture!

Feathersprings, I just want to tell you that I'm in love with your avatar picture!

It looks like a beautiful, blue silkie...........but your signature says you have partridge, black and white so I wasn't sure. Do you sell partridge silkie hatching eggs? I will be interested in the future to add to my one partridge girl. For now I'm focusing on a bbs pen. (I should say trying to focus on BBS)

My last hatch of shipped eggs (different pens) only gave me 6 chicks and I currently need to re-home a gorgeous black cockerel and white cockerel. They both look SO good at 3 months but I can't keep any more little crowers. I love driving past the Fort Bragg area.
