I foolishly ordered the last book from Amazon....now I'll have to wait until it ships.

DH will be upset...I can't put books down until I finish them. A few days ago I bought my first ever ibook (Brian Sanderson's Elantris) I stayed up to 4 am reading it. I've also re-read the whole Wheel of time series each time a new book comes out. To keep my mind off waiting for the last book...I'll re-read the last two books. I can read extremely fast...I used to read 2-3 regular sized books a day before I had kids (on my days off from work LOL)

Well, I got 6 eggs today

Spent some time fixing our auto waterer...the freezes cracked the pipe and I've been using buckets for water lately. Also piled rocks and dirt along the fence line where my chickens kept slipping under and foraging on the neighbor's property. When they sneak across they sometimes can't find their way back. I got sick of trying to catch them and toss them back over each night. Now hopefully they'll stay on our side of the fence. The area they were foraging in is the "Coyote Highway" which is a dry wash that the coyotes use to travel through the area. NOT a good place for chickens to be hanging out!!!

Now that I'm finally getting some eggs I started to make a new list for 2013 egg orders. I'm up to 14 people that want hatching eggs already

I don't know if I want to accept any more....I don't like selling that many egg orders. Selling eggs can be such a hassle.

Deb, did I tell you how much I love my baby quail. Everyone in my house loves them. They are so dang small. I can't believe it... Thank you again for the eggs

You're welcome, they are the friendliest little things. I have one that keeps escaping the quail rack in the workshop. When you walk in, it comes up to you and stands there waiting to be picked up and put back. If it had been one of my bobwhite quail, I'd be lying on my stomach trying to fish it out from under the workbench. The golds are my favorite.

Oh great, it's getting to that time.... dubbing.

I'd love to have moderns, but I can't bring myself to dub. I guess I could just show girls.

I took a bunch of photos yesterday and thought I would share them. These pictures are of my "Pet" pen, an eclectic group of mis-matched chickens breeds and a few other random shots.

Beautiful bird.

That is a marans egg. I get coating like that when their paint blaster does not go full boar. They coat it wiht missing spots. Sometimes it means the egg shell is not quite as dense in every place, so I make sure they have enough oyster shell.

thanks for the ID on this! the shell seems quite sturdy -- will probably crack it for tomorrow's breakfast, & will be interested to see if there are more (i've been out on the SF Bay sailing all day, thankfully the rain held off til we were back at the dock...)
