How can you tell the gender on a Silkie? It's not crowing but it has a comb....I don't know ANYthing about Silkies.

Does anyone know the other breeds of the other chicks?

They all look like they are fathered by the BLRW. Black copper over a buff hen cannot give you blue chicks. Marans over a buff orp would give you black patterned buff chicks. (according to the chicken calculator)

Play gender with me for my son? We picked this little one up from Jeff but she is looking like a he.

That is a cockerel.

Poofy, cotton ball crest is a girl. Spiky crest is a boy. They are hard to sex though.

Don't get still air. Too much of a hassle unless you are only hatching quail

Our feed store orders from Ideal. The biggest problem is the cold this time of year. Had to order SLWB, dark brahmas, and D'anvers 3 times before we actually got birds that lasted past the third day.

Kim and I had the same problem from McMurray last Feb.

Just went out to collect eggs again and found that my Jumbo layer, 5yo BSL, has started up again. Bring em on girls.

That be a boy. SIlkies can take 8 mths to crow. Girls can get combs, but takes a while, dont usualy get red and very rarely have wattles.

DANG! I have the worst luck! I have 2 Frizzle boys and 1 Silkie boy. In the pet chicken 'coop' I only have 4 chickens and 3 are boys. One lone Frizzle girl.
