You want to ask the man with 400 chickens how old something is?! ha ha ha ha.  good luck. I probably knew when you got her (i mean him... sorry bout that!, didn't we "pick" the girl?! aargh). How many ppl have their chickens as fun/hobby? And how many ppl are in the "chicken business" ? And if you're profitable, how do you do it? Sell eggs? Chicks?

Just curious, I have about 50 and feed is getting expensive and I have about 6 breeds. Waititing for some to hatch to sell I also sell eggs and that helps but I would really like to make a little $ on the side too.

Just curious, I have about 50 and feed is getting expensive and I have about 6 breeds. Waititing for some to hatch to sell

I also sell eggs and that helps but I would really like to make a little $ on the side too.

I do both.
$3.00 a dozen for eating eggs.
Hatching eggs will depend. I have not figured it out yet. I would perfer to sell chicks and not ship the pene eggs. Unless it is in driving distance.

How many chickens do you have? Do the eggs sales (3/dozen) cover your feed costs?

I went to a chicken gathering in Modesto. One person there said that the Husband wanted to make money off of the chickens. Karen said something like, when you figure that out let me know. I have been trying for a lot(she said a number I think) of years and have not figure it out yet. Many there agreed.

For a Hobby that can pay for itself and gives you great eggs and meet if you want it is not too bad.

I sell eggs for 3 a dozen. I do not have hatching eggs but I do hatch but usually only cover the cost of buying the eggs(if I am lucky).
