California - Northern

Hi all!

I've been lurking for quite awhile now, mainly because I unfortunately do not have chickens...yet. There is now a timeline for my chicken adventure. I will be getting chicks in early April!

Not a lot, just 6 since I live in a residential neighborhood and won't be able to provide a large area for them to roam around in. I posted on this thread back around the time of the Heirloom Expo, which I went to and really enjoyed. I'm looking forward to going to the show in Stockton this Saturday, sounds like it's going to be pretty awesome :) I am super excited to own chickens and can't wait for April! Actually I can, because I still need to build a coop, haha. I've really been enjoying reading all the great information on this site and I'm hoping I'm going to be as prepared as I can be for the arrival of my chicks. Hope everyone is doing well :)
Welcome to the addiction............................and beware of chicken math!!!

Welcome Savuti,

I admire people who are prepared. I'm not one of them, I had eggs pipping and remembered that I had no chick food at home. What's life without a little mayhem?

Oh believe me I'm very aware of it haha! I've already found myself considering ordering a few extras to make sure I end up with 6 in the end since I'm paranoid that some aren't going to make it, despite my best efforts. Definitely building a coop that will more than comfortably hold 6 chickens, maybe more

Cooper12 is now Hangtown Farms. Just thought I would share.
I am still Jason and Cooper is still my little boy...

Deb awsome on the egg.

You can not go wrong with kale or chard. We steam Kale and blend it. add it to the kids Mac and Cheese.

I may or may not be one of those people who procrastinates and works "better" under pressure. Hoping that will not be the case though!

You are doing great planning ahead.. Yay for Chicks - you will have lots of fun watching them - and it will give you extra time to build the coop while they grow up.
