California - Northern

I have 2 of these. Any guesses on breed? Like a smokey color - not quite black.

They have feathery feet. They almost remind me of marans. I was going to CL them but I don't even know the breeds. If they are marans - I would offer them as such.

Quote: Yeah, no question the roo-ness. How feathery are the feet. The fluffiness of the feathers makes me want to lean towards a cochin. The marans should just have feathers to the outside, cochin feet are very feathery.

All of Betty's eggs so far are duds. No hatching. Just icky stinky eggs lol. She is still sitting on 4 from a friend. When I get my chicks Monday or so- I will slip a couple under her and remove the rest of the eggs. Hopefully the chicks don't die. :|

Oh no, I've been thinking about Broody Betty all week!

Oh now, that is soooo not fair!!! Why do you tease me so? I am headed to Tahoe next weekend (Sat.) Any chance you will be headed to Roseville next week? Then again, that may not be such a good idea since I will be on my way to Tahoe so the eggs would need to take a road trip and the altitude may not be good for them. Urg...

BTW, I am getting a Crele Pene roo from Penny. She still has the one I gave her two years ago which was hatched from eggs I purchased from Flights of Fancy. I guess the one she lost was a different roo. Anyway, I wrote her to tell her I was sorry she lost him and she confirmed she still had him. So, I asked her if she would like to trade for a CCL rooster and she said I could have him.

I need to build him a pen so I plan to pick him up when I come back from Tahoe next week, put him in quarantine for a few weeks, and then move my 2 Crele Pene girls in with him. I will have eggs to trade you sometime this spring/summer so we can expand our gene pools. Yipppee!!!

Here is are pictures of his brother that I lost last year!!! They looked identical at 4 months, but I have not seen him since so I have no idea what he looks like now.

can you head back through south lake tahoe on hwy 50?
I can meet you in Pollock Pines or Placerville.
If I start saving todays I should have at least a dozen maybe up to 20 at the rate they are laying.

Tell Penny Hi. Her too girls are laying machines. She has two more maybe you can talk her out of
