Hi all!! Had my 1st successful hatch this morning!! She's so cute! She's Ameraucana/ brahma... Question: if she doesn't get a buddy tomorrow out of the staggering hatch, would it be ok to put my tiny silkie chick with her so she's not lonely ? The silkies weren't hatched by me. Could that cause problems?
I'm guessing the silkie is smaller? Should be fine since the silkie probably has more motor skills than the younger one. If it was the other way around I'ld be more concerned.

I also think you'll be fine. All of my silkies are pretty gentle with each other (at the very least as chicks).

Ahhh Ron I'm so sorry to reading about your wounded chicken! Any updates?

And thanks everyone. I am so excited that she is fine. I will be heartbroken if she is a he. Not only can we not keep it but no one is going to want an ugly rooster unless its to eat lol.

The Basque is almost back to normal(she was attacked too-not the attacker) The P Pene was much more active tonight and looked like she had been eating more.

They should both recover!

My silkie is about the same size. She's tiny! Super sweet. Holds her own with the 4 big ones that she lives with in the brooder :) I think she's lonely with the bigger ones so maybe in the morning we shall see if they want to play. When can I hold the new baby?? She's 11 hours old & fluffed!! I want to hold her so badly!!

My multi doesn't seem to be working, but I'll try and remember what I wanted to respond to. Sorry if this seems random. :P

Dogs are a future pet for us. Right now our old cat who, is terrified of dogs, is going to enjoy a dog free life. When she is gone we have plans to get a dog.

Goats are not legal in our town unless you live on agricultural zoned lots that are either five or ten acres in size. Can't remember which. For that matter, you can have any livestock if you are on that much land. Just requires a use permit. Alas, my .3 acre lot just doesn't cut it.

Pocket pets are not for us. The only type I really like are rats, but I am horribly allergic to them. :(
