Man, I mean I only JUST got my first three chickens and now you all have me thinking about hatching out eggs! At least the good thing is I already had plans to build an incubator. I also keep and breed reptiles as a hobby/side business, you'd be surprised at just how much overlap there is in equipment. Heck the only things I needed to buy for my chick brooder was the chick food and the food and water containers, I already had everything else. Oh speaking of chicks, I finally got photobucket wrestled into some form of submission, so here are pictures of my first three girls; Patty, Maxine, and LaVerne. 10 points if you get the reference. Patty (please forgive the heart, she left me a "present" on the table) Maxine LaVerne
Cute babies. What kind of reptiles do you breed? That sounds pretty interesting.

Hi all! I was a lurker until recently and just found this awesome thread. I wanted to share the eggs I got from my newly adopted hens - I got 5 girls Sunday and they have given me ~4 eggs every day since! The pic shows one from each girl.
And I've got chicken fever bad!!!

Welcome, threadgeek! Beautiful eggs!!! My husband works for UC Santa Cruz even though we live in the East Bay area. He is only home on the weekends and we don't seem to get down to Santa Cruz very often during the week because of our chickens. Where do you buy your feed? I have my husband pick up King Feed at Scott's Valley Feed. He has also purchased Modesto Milling Feed at General Feed in Santa Cruz.

Welcome, ThePaganJew! Cute chicks! Yes, I think that you definitely need to build an incubator to hatch eggs!

Debi, that is good news about your sister. Hopefully she won't need the radiation. I'm sure she was so comforted having you there.

On another note, that SUCKS about your account. What a pain! It is awesome though that you caught it just in the nick of time. Enjoy that glass of wine and welcome home :)
Thank you, Jules! I definitely enjoyed it!!!

While I was on hold with India yesterday, I spent some time looking at the farm and garden listings on Craigslist. Look at this ad that I found! If you have a weak stomach or a great love for rats, don't look! It gave me something to laugh about in the middle of a crisis!

That is amazing! I have heard about people leasing goats to control weeds but never rat terriers to control Rats!!!
