I just put in 45 Thursday. Have another dozen already
Awesome Jason!
well, it may have been a false alarm re: broodiness, or she's just on the verge of it -- spent at least six hours on the nest, but a little while ago finally got up for a walk. will keep my eye on her, though! and in the meantime, more excitement: my first cream legbar egg!
Very good news! Congrats !
That is my task for tomorrow. I'm afraid I will need a jug of wine by the time I'm done
I'm not doing mine tomorrow, but I will need a jug of wine when I do ...

The Crele Penes are pipping! I even here them Chirping over the fans on the three incubators. They must be very healthy little guys.

Also, I hope they do not hatch at 2:30 in the morning like the last two hatches......

Good luck Ron

Do these air cell look big enough? They sure don't look

like the diagrams for an egg at day 18.

They will be fine!

Very nicely shaped air cells.

If the chicks are sticky, lower the humidity 5% for the next hatch.

We will see them in 3 or 4 Days!

I won them in an auction and was pleased to find out they were coming from Lodi! Short shipping but not packed like Diane or others that pack using a version of the Skyline method.

Still, other than the broken one, the other 13 look very nice!

The Capay Valley Almond Festival is today. http://www.espartoregionalchamber.com/almondfestival.aspx

I will be selling olive oil & eggs next to the Guinda Fire Station, where they are serving bbq'd oysters. The Marshall Law Band will also be playing there. All kinds of things to see & do all through the valley, today.

If you make the trip, stop by and say hi.

Thanks for the reassurance. These air cells are so small compared to my first hatch and to me they look small. When I marked and candled last night all but 2 have strong movement going on, one was even rocking in the carton.

Hoping to get the breeder pen finished up today. We should be able to unless he changes his mind on the door again. Poor birds really do need to get out of the greenhouse. Spent yesterday hauling shale to elevate the floor, it looked like a fish pond when we got heavy rains earlier this year, but it's raised now and 6" of shavings for now. After all the rock-the shavings moved so easily! Might even to able to get a coat of paint in the broody room.

You're welcome. I learned about them on BYC so I am happy to pass along the info.

Well I am getting the sprouting thing going and researching fermenting.... lol. I clearly have nothing else to do with my free time! Of which there is actually very little, but enough to get me in to all kinds of things on here.
I have been sprouting BOSS for my girls for quite some time and started feeding them fermented feed in January. Now I'm working on getting my fodder trays going!
