Thanks Elite but I was just kiddin'.

I've got enough irons in the fire without adding more.  Broody nursery to finish up, duck pen to build, 4-H field day next weekend,  Still working on which birds going to Red Bluff..........

You are in the Yreka area correct?  I get asked all the time for POL birds.  Would you like me to refer them to you?  I-5 chicken exchange.

Sure why not! Thanks!

Im a little further south though. Im in Anderson. Right outside of Redding.

I-5 Chicken Exchange... I like the souund of that :)

I did see them but did not get a sense of Gender from them. They are EEs? Watch for red on the wings. Rooster pattern for sure!

It's harder with rose combs. The best thing is to watch the wattles. They should not grow much or turn pink until 12 weeks or so. Also, the comb should stay whitish for the same amount of time.

With chicks, I let them reveal themselves to me. There will either be a crow or an egg at some point. I love the Auto Sexing breeds though!

Driving to Anderson probably not an issue in the spring/summer/fall. For me it's an excuse to drop in on Mom & Dad more often, they are out past Oak Run. Best part-Pullets don't crow! DH's nephew is a CHP officer assigned to Anderson area.

So far the pullet I have does not seem to be particularly flighty. She is calmer than the CCL x CP(Crested Cream Legbar X Crele Penedesenca) those guys are crazy and they do seem to fly well.

My guess is that they will not fly too much when they start getting big. Some people just clip the wing. Luckily the person you got yours from does not trim the Beak. I do not like that one.

They are supposed to be crazy Foragers. In France they only forage for the first several months and then they are penned and eat that special diet they give them. My little pullet does not seem to forage better than the others so far.
I've noticed that about the foraging. Mine hardly eat any of their food. They are constantly busy looking for goodies in the yard. And so far, they are not interested in any treats from me which is probably better for them.
