Good job on your first Hatch!

th

Do you know what breed they are?

Thanks, Ron!! Actually my 2nd hatch :) I hatched the EE's last month :)

Here is a pic of them now in the brooder. Dusty still has some extras hanging onto her, but eating & drinking :) I have to go to my grandma's house to take pics of the ladies that laid these eggs, but she has 2 roos...a Banty & a RIR. I'm kinda thinking that they were both the RIR's babies :) what do you think? The one with a little dark fluff was a blue/green egg & Dusty was a brown egg.

Max (blue egg) on left, Dusty (brown egg) on right :) <3

Congratulations on all the chicks everyone!

My hatch is due on the 14th! I am hatching some English BBS eggs from a couple if different breeders, and my own Gold & Buff Laced Brahmas, Palomino Brahmas and some Marranduna Basque eggs ill be looking to rehome when they hatch.

Good morning!!

Here's Dusty!!!

Here's Max!!!

FLUFFY BUTTS!!!

So it was a long night!! Dusty hatched at 8:50pm & Max at 9:10pm.... They both looked good so I left them alone. I could still hear one peeping inside one of the blue shells when I went to bed; I thought she would surely be here this morning, but I couldn't hear anything this am so I pipped her shell & she must have quit during the night :( the other 2 hadn't even developed... I think the egg was so tight she couldn't get out. I should have helped her last night, but I didn't want to interfere :( I'm happy I got 2!!!!
Thanks for the cheering section, guys!!!
Congrats!

I do the same with my Araucana. I just hatched a couple of chicks that were clean faced and had a few residual tail feathers. Assuming they are girls, they'll lay a beautiful blue egg, but were going as EE's. I ended up giving them to a friend that wanted blue layers for his egg flock.

Cute chicks and congratulations on your hatch. If the roo is a RIR and there is a RIR hen, then Dusty could be pure RIR. If Max's father is a RIR, then Max would most likely be an OE. Coming out of a blue egg he/she can't be a RIR.

..I did not have the time to read the 100+ post since Saturday...busy birds here... but

Love the chick pics! Max and Dusty are darling!

Elite Poultry best of luck with your hatch

Pet Rock I am happy for your birthday present and think it is sweet that your husband is an enabler :)

And on that note.t I want to share this:

I just took delivery of a Little Giant 5200 Still Air Incubator!!! I am borrowing it from a friend who has had good luck with it. I have or am about to order mixed lots of hatching eggs from two different BYCers (bethbug and chookschick) and I am busy counting my chickens before they hatch.

The directions say it can take up to 70 eggs I assume that is in a turner which I don't have...How many have any of you put in this model without a turner?

Because I am using shipped eggs I thought I might use egg cartons and a book moved from end to end to turn but I want to know if it matters...and please forgive me if this is not making sense...if the book is placed perpendicular to the eggs or parallel to them?

Some of my eggs are coming from my own hens I didn't know if I should put those eggs in a carton or not.

I am really excited about all of the potential...then when they hatch I will be excited about them...I am totally atwitter! :)

I posted this on the incubation and hatching thread but thought since there are so many hatching specialists here that I should repost here.
