for the fertile Delawares.

I was also up at 5am. I sold one of my Polish cockerels and my favorite little pullet from last summers hatch. The lady loved the Silver Laced cockerel but also wanted a pullet to go with him. She had a SLP roo when she was a kid and has been looking for one. She's just getting her own chickens and was very excited. I wanted to send her one of the pullets I planned on culling from my flock but this one Gold Laced pullet is really a sweetheart but is a little loner. She's the last to want to go in to the coop at night and sometimes my husband misses that she hasn't gone in if they're all still vying for position on the roost. She doesn't eat until I come and let everyone out because she doesn't want to deal with all the others.....soooo, I went ahead and let her go to a new home. Not the best breeder decision but it was the best for my sweet little girl. She loves to be held and I know she'll get plenty of attention. Her new mom will be so happy these two.

On my way to pull the two I sold, I found my main roo out and when I picked him up he was shivering. I noticed we had left the pop door open all night, thankfully no predators noticed! When I went out later to let everyone out my roo was hiding behind the shavings bag...where my GLP girl use to hide!

As I went about my chores I noticed the 4 cockerels chasing him around! I don't know why they've all of the sudden decided they don't like him but these cockerels run in a pack! I moved him and one of my hens into my grow out pen for the day. I'll move them back in tonight. The boys are on Craigslist so hopefully they'll be gone soon.

About the oregano...for internal ingestion first verify its source. I have only found DoTerra to be pure therapeutic grade essential oils.

Every time someone around here shows starts of a cold I'm after them with the oregano! It's very harsh on the skin though so the best place to apply is the feet since they have the largest pores. A swipe a few times a day. I love keeping the birds in mind too. So cool!

Off the topic of natural remedies/oregano, I went out to the trap I had set for the nasty possum(s) that killed my girls and found.....................a beautiful calico kitty. I just got back from taking her to the vet to be fixed (if she hasn't been), checked for FIV/FeLV (euthanized if positive) and tameness determination for possible adoption. They may be able to do surgery this evening, otherwise, tomorrow. When I first saw her in the trap, I thought my cat, Bali, had gotten out - would have been strange since she is a former barn cat who is now a consumate house cat & lounger.
And I gave my little cockerel a name: he will become Rudy the Rooster, but for now it's just Little Rudy.

So far it sounds like digestion problems, which wormers can cause. Depending on what the illness is and how it spreads, 6ft should work.

Does the local feed store carry save a chick pro biotic? Also, make sure they have access to grit. The crop is normal?

I hope this all helps her soon!

I don't know what abnormal crop would be. She looks fine. If they have the chick probiotic, should I still do the Denegard?

Congratulations on the new cat! I hope all goes well with her.

Sometimes I forget to mention things. you need to make sure you get Oregano Oil that is for internal use. Some of the aroma therapy kinds have mineral oil in them and is not for internal use.

Something like this:

Quote: SG Dorkings are really nice. The Roosters look like Black and Silver Princes and the Hens have very pretty coloring and lacing. I love that the Hens look so different from the Roos.

CapayValleyChick should have plenty of culls this year!

Quote: I would get the Denegard to have it since it has to be ordered. It might be needed for this problem, especially if it moves through the flock. The Pro biotic gets the digestion back to normal.

A big swollen crop would be abnormal and sour crop has a smell to it. I have never had to deal with sour crop but some here have. I still think she will be fine in a day or two.

I'd rather not do antibiotics if I don't have to. Denegard yes or no? Thanks!!!!
