So cute!!! Beautiful background, too!
Maybe covering the entire thing with a tarp during the winter and only half of it during the rest of the year will solve the rain problem. We are also thinking about eventually replacing the tarp with corrigated roofing panels. Maybe I can find some of those on craigslist!I think they would. Some have had problems with rain getting into them. Likely the direction they face would be a factor. Also, Make sure the tarp is secured well for wind.
I like it!
LOL! We are thinking about using a tarp for now and then replacing it with corrigated roofing! The pond liner is a good idea. Thank you for the suggestion. It's a new thing to search for on craigslist!ditto or extend the tarp to the front and leave the front open.
You can also price pond liner. It will cost much more than a tarp but will last longer.
Or corrigated roofing . start at the bottom on both sides and work up. when you get to the top put a peace over the seam. the vinyl type is best and will last for 20 years or more
Yeah! Go, upside down chickie! Now that the membrane is gone there doesn't seem to be much extra liquid at all. I'll be keeping an eye on him throughout the day. This is quite stressful being a first-timer but the wisdom shared by everyone in this thread gives me the courage to conquer my squeamishness. I can't thank everyone enough for their help!![]()
Score! I love craigslist! And that hoop coop looks adorable!
Update, egg #5 has pipped! So far 5 of the 7 ameraucana eggs have had action, nothing from the buffington or grocery store eggs yet...
OK, checked for at least a pip before leaving for work around 11am and I found one! And it's one of the Blue Copper Marans eggs!First I thought it was a scratch on the egg and then the egg moved! Finally got the flashlight to the right angle and could tell it was a pip. I don't get off until 6!![]()
You know what might work for the sides is shade cloth. My husband made some panels to hang on the sides of my lower chicken pen. It has a roof, but the rain would blow in. When the weather is good I keep them rolled up and when it rains I can lower them like a shade. They let some air through for ventilation but keep the rain out.Maybe covering the entire thing with a tarp during the winter and only half of it during the rest of the year will solve the rain problem. We are also thinking about eventually replacing the tarp with corrigated roofing panels. Maybe I can find some of those on craigslist!
Now I know why you picked Nikon as your BYC name, you are a great photographer!
