What a happy thread to read today! All this hatching is exciting!

Pita piñtas! I can't wait to see how this turns out!!!

Candling later today. Um candling is addicting. So is space in the bator. I can see why you all do this now haha.

I have 3 goose eggs - only 1 doing well last check. 11 ducks - all doing well last check. 2 bantam wyandotte eggs i set yesterday.

My Sizzle pullet has been laying a few weeks now. She is laying about 6 eggs a week. Is that normal? She is a tiny egg laying machine. Her eggs are itty bitty. I don't even think they are 30 grams. Cute.

Welcome to all the new folks to the thread!!

Bradshaw is absolutely amazing! There are at least 3 places with chicks within 15 minutes of me while Bradshaw was a 45 minute drive through Sacramento traffic, but I spent weeks looking and looking for Sebrights, d'Anvers or d'Uccles and finally someone just told me, "Have you tried Bradshaw?" I think I called on a Monday or Tuesday and they were supposed to get a shipment of chicks in on Tuesday or Wednesday, I called back on a Thursday and they had just what I wanted! They also had big pamphlets on "How to Take Care of Chicks" and checklists to make sure I had everything I would need. I think it's great when shops do that, it indicates that they want their animals going to people who will be well-informed, giving the chicks the best chances of living long, happy, healthy little lives.

They also said that they do take in roosters when they have room, so if I have an emergency hopefully they can help me with rooster re-homing.

The pups are back. someone took them in and called animal control with there number saying they would keep them there until someone called in....

Chickee love the chicks.
I'm so glad the pups are back! Gotta love nice people who will care for stray animals while their owners are found so the don't have to experience the pound.
Quote: LOL That's a whippet for you. They always know the under the covers trick.

I'm so glad the dogs are home Jason and kept well and dry during the storms.

When I was growing up we had an Italian Greyhound who would do the same thing. If you couldn't see her around the house she was likely under the covers in my mothers bed. For such a small dog she took up a LOT of space in the bed.
We have quail popping out of their shells today!!!!

One hatched Easter evening with over a dozen pips on other eggs and then nothing until this morning! I was so worried that I had killed the rest of them when I rescued Frank and took him out of the incubator. He is going to be so happy to have company! I better get another brooder ready!
Congrats on the quail! I see so many people hatching out quail I feel like I'm missing out lol. They are added to my someday list of animals. I know they don't take up too much space but between the current chickens, cats, dogs, and reptiles there's just no more room right now.

I'm very excited, my chicks were supposed to start hatching this Thursday but this morning we already have 4 pips! Two of the dark brown eggs, an olive and a blue. As much as I want to be home when they hatch I'm glad I'm in class and busy today so I'm not standing over the incubator and staring. Hubby is home and he's excited but not as obsessive as I am.

On another note, a friend of mine is looking for a new ram for her flock of sheep. She's been really good to my family so I said I'd help her look for one. She doesn't really care about breed but wants a ram from good fertile stock (her current one produces lots of twins) and about 250lbs I think. If anyone could help point me in a good direction it would be much appreciated.

Yay!!! I have 33 Coturnix, mostly Jumbos in the bator now!! My first :) Do you hatch quail often? Hard to find Coturnix in Nevada County
This is the first time hatching quail. I received 34 or so with my new incubator. I had no plans on raising quail but now that they are hatching I may become addicted!

I will have a ram lamb for sale from my quadruplets. The sire produced triplets & quads this year. The ewe had triplets last July and now has the quads. She's raising them just fine on her own. The sire & dam are good sized registered St. Croix Hair Sheep.

Does anyone have any Silkies for sale? Chicks or older. My daughter is lonely now that my mom and step dad have gone home. I'm trying to get Silkie eggs for our next hatch (darn broody silkies!) but I would love to have some (or even one) for her now. We're in Penngrove. Thanks everyone! They can be culls from a breeding program or anything, just looking for a pet, who will be very loved (and probably indoor/outdoor, realistically

My multi-quote isn't working for multiple pages, but thanks to everyone who commented on our pictures! Any yes, Malcolm is such a boy. I really rejected the saying "boys will be boys" when I was pregnant, and I still think it isn't wise to let boys off the hook for being rough or inconsiderate of other people, but there certainly is something to it. He's all about throwing and pushing and running and climbing. Very physical. Clementine was gentle by nature, but trying to teach him to be gentle is a struggle! And he's such a sweetheart, there's no malicious intent. It's a learning experience, I only had a sister.
