Yes, I think so.Ron - this is the ONLY one that is a real contender for a pure Marans pullet. So far I think she's actually good for it. What do you think?
I'm good at this point. Summers + Marans make me nervous. I am curious how she will weather 110 degree days. I'm glad you said something tho- I must have overlooked her.
I admit its super cool! I would love to hatch and sell ducklings. Need to run some more test hatches so I can get familiar with what ducks lay what. I'd be able to hatch pure Appleyards, pure Pekins and crosses of the two that would make a delicious table bird. In about 6 more weeks I will process one of my male Appleyard drakes. I am so curious how much plucking I'll have to do plus how much meat yield I will have for feeding it for 10 weeks. These guys are rather jumbo by 10 weeks. I would say at LEAST 8 pounds on the males by that point. My oldest male now is bigger than my female goose! nearly as big in body as my gander!
