California - Northern

It is at least partially Ameraucana. Came from a beautiful blue egg, but the hen was in with Ameraucana, Marans, and EE roosters, so the question is, "Who's your daddy?" I'll just call him/her an Easter Egger.

Just noticed that ChickNmamma is calling the coloring Blue Wheaten, which sounds good to me!

That it might be a boy, not so much.

What about the coloring/feathering is saying boy? (Total novice, here.) I think I have a full head and body shot if that would be helpful.
Here is a pic of my blue wheaten Ameraucana pair from 2 years ago. The pullet is about 2 weeks younger than the cockerel. I'm pretty sure that they both started out with yellow legs.

I think Ron needs to quit his day job and become a chicken broker. You posted chick pics and already have four people wanting them. Oh and the hatching too.

One day when I retire.....

It is easy for me to love these Pinta Pitas because I hatched them. They are like my little Baby's and it was so great to see them all grown up! Megan is doing a great job with them too!

I tried to take some good pics of my Langshans at the farm when we were there yesterday. They were all over the place and in & out of the tall mustard so I didn't get very many decent shots. This one I think is funny! There were 5 or 6 big Langshan boys and 1 small mutt hen with a bare back hanging around them! They are the Langshan boy flock and their little groupie!

Hello all,
I am sad to say that in my 6 years of hatching chicks I have had my first 0%! We had a bAd feeling since when the post man drove up to the house I want RUNNING to the front door in time to see him throw the box marked " fragile please hold at post" ( written on every side) onto my snow covered cement porch.....

I asked how could he to which he responded " I didn't see the writing, and you can't just write on the box, the shipper is required to request the hold online or call ahaid to the delivering post office!"

So here we are in south lake and I do NOT want to ship again. We have a few 3 week old feed store chicks but really would like a docile breeding stock of moderately good layers.

If you are within 2-3 hours from Tahoe (south) and are selling chicks or fertile eggs I would love to know about it!!!

Blessings,
Kandi

Is there a support group like Chickens Anonymous? We just got our first two, and I already want more. Question: they laid eggs the first day here, so if they, um, spent time with a "gentleman" at their previous home, will they lay fertile eggs for a few days?

Kandi,
I have a dozen eggs you can set. Or I can collect some starting today if you want. I am probably the closest member to you on our side of the hill.
I am east of placerville south of Pollock Pines.
I have
crele penedesenca , white empordanesa or some olive eggers. Though you may want a breed with a pea or rose comb where you live

Sorry for reposting these guys. Can you help me ID them?
OK it's breed ID time if you guys don't mind. The first pic is of the rooster in my uncle's "Red Pen" whose eggs I have in the bator. The hens in there are a Buff Orp, two Golden Comets and a little brown hen who I think is a by mix. I think the roo is a mix too. but here is his pic. He is small. One of the GC girls is quite a bit taller but a gorgeous little guy. His legs are white.

Also on my uncles place are these two in the bachelor pen. RIR right?

Ok....we finished our coop today. We are now the proud parents of a Buff Orpington, Easter Egger, Partridge Wyandotte, and a Silver Laced Wyandotte. All but the Partridge Wyandotte are 10 weeks. I am not sure how old the Partridge is though. She is quite a bit bigger than the others. The man a got them from didn't have a Cochin or Barred Rock ready yet.....so we may go back in a few weeks to get them.
I am so excited....it's dark, but I want to go out and sit in the coop with them all night....LOL
Happy for you. This post made me smile!

The colors are not correct for an RIR. They legs should be yellow with striping and the feather colors should be mahogany. He is more like a New Hampshire but you never know what the Hatchery called him.

He is a big good looking boy!
