California - Northern

I could see a bit of vains and jumping around last week. But this week air pocket and -dark. But no discoloration to indicate a bloodring. So ill just wait :-)
Now I just need to switch over to the brinsea products;-0

Thank you very much,
Kandi
Kandi,

That's exactly what you want to see. As the eggs get further along, the dark part is just the egg full of chick, with the air cell at the top. When they get close to hatch, all you see is a full egg and it will feel heavy.

Good luck!

Man I know a LOT of people that are just having so many things going on right now, myself included. It must be something in the air. I think a gift card with a nice card is a very good idea. Especially when traveling, OR, if they registered online anywhere get it on the online registry and have it mailed directly to them. Saves you the effort.

Traveling with a small child is bananas. At least it was for me. So much more effort on my part and so much more planning and packing. UGH!

On the chicken news....I wish I had a coop! lol

Because...... you just don't know how long they were there!

Wow great for business. That more than some negative comments would make me not do business with them.
What is going on with the coop front? Your chickens are gonna need a place of there own soon lol
It rained a bit this morning, dried out, then rained again when I went out to get the mail.

I want to say THANK YOU to Ron for suggesting the Brisea spot check therometer. I wasn't trusting the ones in the cabinet because the other two said differently. Well, the spot check got here, I put it in, and sure enough - I have been running at 97 degrees...

, just like the inside thermostat said.. Well its up to 99-100.5 now, I adjusted the thermostat. I had lowered it because one of the other ones was reading 104 and that scared me. I took that one out...

I suspect this last batch is going to be a tad late... Day 21 today and not a pip/peep, nothing.

At least now I know why!
probably a day late if it was cool
Woke up to big fat snowflakes. Thankfully the ground was too thawed out for it to stick! Just rain now;-)))
Kandi
not here. rained good early. now just cool

Hi guys. I dont know what breed these chickens are can you help me find out. Ill try to take some better pictures later

I can't really tell the size with these. The first one looks like an orptington or a Golden comet.
The second one looks like a Barred rock

The last two could be Cherry eggers or a type of hatchery red. The last one looks like a production Red. they could be mixes of breeds too because some things kind of look like Australorps on them but the legs are wrong.

How old are they? Do they lay eggs yet? Where did you get them? Where the a brown layer assortment from a hatchery?

I think she is a Buff Orpington

Is she barred? I think either a young Barred Rock or a California Grey. Barred Rocks get big. CGs stay lighter.

This one maybe a New Hampshire? is there penciling on he feathers?

I think this is a younger version of this^^

my goodness, what a chickeny afternoon -- gave a final exam this morning, several meetings at school, then drove up to Willits to collect 4 araucana chicks (just hatched last night) from Lanae Cash (thanks for the connection, Deb!!!!) to swap out for the unhatched eggs under Broody #2 (Frances, a SPPR) -- drove back down to discover that at least one chick under Broody #3 (Speedy, my rather grumpy-tempered CL) has hatched -- i could only see one little head peeping out, but didn't want to disturb if others were still hatching! everyone was in quite a stir with so much peeping going on. waited til dark, got the 27-day-old unhatched eggs out from under Frances, put in a couple of fake eggs + the four babies, and didn't hear any ominous sounds of "wait, where did you come from?" -- so hoping all is well. *fingers crossed*

collapsing in a chair & trying to think of an easy dinner to make...

(and will try to get some pictures tomorrow to share!)

Lawatt, hope all goes well with the egg for chick swap. If I had sat that long I don't think I would care what I was given! Hope you get a peek on todays hatchlings.

I'm envious of you that can multi-quote. I do my reading on a tablet, if I try to reply to a large text I can't see anything, it's all off the screen. While running spell-check the buttoms are over the ads, can't tell you the number of times I've just given up because all I can do is open the ads.

It is pouring up here, thunder rumbling, can't see any lightning yet.

Here are my new EO's. Ended up with 7, which is what my husband is calling them all.
