Thanks...off to search for Razadia and pester with questions
Thanks I like the idea of .50 for a carton and appreciate ALL the feedback. people here pay 2.50-3.00 for home grown fresh eggs which is cheaper than cage free eggs in the store...makes no sense but that's what it is. I am excited about selling hatching eggs but want to be sure I don't mislead anyone. I loved the anticipation of ordering mixed orders of eggs and not knowing exactly what I would be getting. It added to the fun.
Be prepared for really silly questions on the hatching eggs. I was asked why I didn't crack them and let the chicks out.

totally baffled by that teeny egg -- from the speckling, it MUST be one of the two marans -- but as far as i know, they've been laying since january? except that everyone's laying has been way off lately, only getting 2 or so eggs a day from 8 layers -- so now i'm wondering if one of the marans stopped for a while (all that windy weather that they don't like!) and has now started up again but with a teeny weeny egg? it's literally the size of a marble.

but beautiful! at first i thought a quail had snuck into the coop...
Do a search on "fart egg". I love them, I save every one I get. Just got one today from my bantam polish. I just sit them on a shelf and they dessicate pretty quickly all by themselves. I got one once from the quail, it was truly tiny. I'll post a picture sometime, I have 5-10 of them.

Pretty little egg, love the speckling.

insanely cute. so: home at 8pm from a truly crazy day at school, just in time before dark to check on the goings-on in the coop -- here's my report: -- Speedy has knocked over her kids' feeder but otherwise all seems fine there -- Eleanor's 2-week-olds already expect treats when i turn up -- Frances is STILL in her nest box, what a good girl -- and it looks like ONE of the five eggs she inherited from Speedy's neglected nest has hatched, i found part of a shell, but not entirely sure *which* shell -- my best guess, from the color, was the one bresse egg that seemed to have started pipping yesterday. didn't want to dig into her nest for babies just before dark, so left them all for the night, just with some extra food. -- and in the layers' extra laying box, i found the following: totally baffled by that teeny egg -- from the speckling, it MUST be one of the two marans -- but as far as i know, they've been laying since january? except that everyone's laying has been way off lately, only getting 2 or so eggs a day from 8 layers -- so now i'm wondering if one of the marans stopped for a while (all that windy weather that they don't like!) and has now started up again but with a teeny weeny egg? it's literally the size of a marble. but beautiful! at first i thought a quail had snuck into the coop...
Now that would be a quail!!! They are working on gold marbled quail eggs... but marans quail...

So I went to the feed store and I picked up two straight run silkies! I also got 5 Americaunas and six Plymouth Rocks
Cool...what color are the Rocks?

Glad things are good in the maternity ward! As of like yesterday, I have given up trying to figure out what is going on with my hen's laying weirdness. As long as I have enough for the day I am happy.

Hahaha..people are funny. Sometimes they just don't know things we take for granted.

Anyone else hatching a lot of boys?

My last 2 hatches are insanely boy heavy. 1st I hatched 11 and 9 are cockerels. Then I hatched 19 and 13 are boys. I guess my odds are improving.

Maybe this next hatch of 10 under my broody will have more pullets.

I think 7 of my 10 chicks are boys...

Some of the questions kill me! My most common explanation to people when i tell people i'm hatching eggs that i purchased from others is why i cant hatch eggs frim my all hen flock.

Get it out of that incubator now or Heather will have your head!

And I had two seeping, smelly eggs in my turkey hatch.............still had 28 poults pop out!
lol yeah I did. It was at the early stink phase where the bator just smelled a little off. all the eggs smelled normal except one. I was not getting sick or anything but there was a clear smell which would of gotten worse . I candled a sample of some of the others and they are developing which is good of course.
