Quote: Let me go through my chicks tomorrow. I absolutely have sexable chicks, some that no longer need any heat and some that just need to be weaned from the heat (don't really need it, but I haven't taken it away yet). I'll let you know if I have a couple of pullets.

Quote: We have tentative plans to go to Awful Annie's in Auburn for breakfast on Sunday morning............

Yummy, Awful Annie's. terrible parking though.

DH has never been there before (I used to go with a BF on the back of his bike, makes the parking easier, LOL). Anyway, I've been wanting to take DH so I can have the smoked salmon benedict...........yum! We were tied to Sunday because I've been wanting to drop a couple of roos at the Denio's small animal auction to see how it goes.

Hi all, haven't had time to get caught up but wanted to ask a REALLY IMPORTANT QUESTION. I noticed that one of the chicks I hatched from our own eggs has grey legs. This is exciting news because I think that means its mam is one of my Australorps which means....RAY HAD A BABY BEFORE HE DIED!!!!!!!

So all you chicken genetics specialists please tell me I had eggs from two pens. Mine with Ray and my girls and my uncles with a Golden Comet roo a BO, Two Golden Comets, and a New Hampshire as the ladies.

No one has black legs except the ALs so am I right?? the other little mutts all have yellow legs.

I'm certainly not a genetic specialist, but from what I understand, black is dominant. The highlighted in red above would not give you a chick with black legs. So by elimination, it would have to be from Ray and your girls.
