LOL!!! So did you end up with a little Cream Legbar cockerel?
I do think I did get one!. I only had about 2 or maybe 3 CL eggs from Deann, and I know that at least two hatched. I am almost certain that one was a full CL boy. I also had one of her OE project eggs too and that one hatched and based on what she told me about what they look like, I think that one was a boy too.

It seems like I may have a lot of Millie Fleur Leghorn boys. I would like at least one girl out of that mix, but their combs are the ones that are picking up.

Lol. I can never get my mothers iPhone to do anything. She is a Mac person but does not buy a new computer very often so nothing syncs. She can't even get Google calendar pushed to the phone!!

That is off topic. I don't have any idea on the nesting boxes. My hens prefer large spaces so they don't usually lay in boxes unless its the neat rollie kind they can be taller then everyone else with.

I think we have a fair few people in school or working at schools who might be away for end of year crazieness but I miss them too!
Yeah, this is the first year my daughter has really gone to a "school". She is in Kindergarten and things are crazy busy.

I just miss everyone on here. It is a fun thread.

Chiquita, you guys process your own chickens too right? At what age should you process a chicken? When are you processing your's PetRock?

YEAH! Progress!!! My pen grew into a monstrosity! Somehow, when I gave the measurements to DH, I didn't really comprehend exactly how big it would end up being! I just wanted the 19 bobwhite quail out of my spare bedroom ASAP! Now, they have a nice big pen outside and are very happy with it! It is funny but they are not as skittish as they were when they were in the inside brooder. We worked all afternoon yesterday on the doors to their pen and they were calm even with when we were drilling screws into the structure. I may end up keeping a male and a few females for breeding. I love the sounds they make!
I have trouble visualizing the size thing too. Plus I am not going off of any plans, I just said, oh, a 4x8 box shouldn't be too hard for me since most wood comes in 8 foot lengths and 4x8 sheets! HA! So glad I didn't go bigger! Besides cost, it would have been so much more difficult.

I had to stop work on the quail pen because my chicken eggs hatched and I knew it would take me forever on the coop. I ended up giving the quail to SilkieRose and when I am ready she said she would give me fertile eggs so I can do it again. I am really interested in the health benefits of the quail eggs. She said the males are really loud though. lol Those were the Coturnix quail. I think the Bob White call is probably prettier. I am going jumbo next time!

Okay, this brings up a question. My phone is up for renewal at the end of July. I'm trying to decide between an iphone or a Samsung Galaxy or ???. I would value hearing opinions on the matter.

LOL Opinions are like..... well never mind! Anyway, I think I am just disappointed because of all the hype surrounding the iPhone. Here is what I have noted, having both, and a Blackberry.

Hands down the Blackberry was perfect for my work use. Emails came in quick were easy to respond to, the calendar features were almost like working right on my desktop. My internet access sucked. I never tried to download any apps really on the Blackberry. It didn't work that well for net access, but that was 3 years ago. I haven't tried the new one they just released so IDK on that one.

I have a Samsung Galaxy tablet. It needs to be rebooted quite a bit, but I like the freedom that Android gives you. I like the applications pretty well, and most work fine. Some don't work as well as I would like. For example the Netflix application works WAY better on my iPhone than on my Samsung.

The iPhone is great if you always listing to music, you can carry it with you instead of an iPod and a phone they are combined. The calendar features are marginal and with my memory I really rely on the calendar. Emails are marginal. They are sufficient but not as good as the Blackberry. I hate the touchscreen typing pad on ANY phone. The Blackberry had a physical keypad and I was a lighting fast typer, but I think they did away with that now too in consideration of a touch screen on their new model.

The iPhone screen seems to be a little bit more responsive and accurate compared to my Android. The apps that were made for iPhone tend to work really well. However BYC crashes frequently on my iPhone. Also I have to worry about breaking my iPhone. The glass screen breaks really easy if dropped. So, just this weekend I went out and bought another expensive accessory cover that should protect it from most dropping and even if I drop in in the toilet.

I guess the best summary points would be what are you using it for the most? I think the cost was excessive on the iPhone for what I use it for. As a phone it is fine. I really like Facetime which is an iPhone to iPhone feature, but I could get the same with that other application...... the name is escaping me now.

Anyway, I hope that helped, probably not, because it seems like there isn't any one device that encompasses everything I like or would use it for.

I'm an android girl. But phones are supposed to change fast fast so I personally do not get too hung up on brand. I just want the one that is the best and fastest when my contract is up.

I have a nexus ( think there is a new one out) that is the phone produced for Google. What I love about this is there is no one reprogramming my phone making me wait for months for the next operating system to be implemented. I get it immediately. Some times that does not matter some times its huge. Jellybean was an amazing upgrade and 1/2 the phones still don't have it.

What I hate about it is it has a finicky charger and I have had to get several new phones when they will no longer charge. So its worth getting the insurance plan.

I get the 5/ month

Insurance plan and it was worth it.

I think Motorola makes the best physical machine of a phone with gorrilia glass etc (used to have keyboards too!) But they are not as fast or tech savvy anymore.

I use my android as a mp3 player all the time. Nexus speakers are meh but software is excellent. I never liked iPods so I didn't sync with one but it is easy to grab stuff on the computer and move stuff back and forth.

Thank you for the phone opinions, ladies! I guess I still have a little time before I have to decide. My 2 year old granddaughter played in the dog water with my cell phone but keeping it in rice for a few days seems to have revived it. I just want it to last another 2 months! Then I have to decide whether to change from Verizon to AT&T plus which phone to buy. I had AT&T but my DH had Verizon through work so I switched to Verizon and then UC Santa Cruz switched to AT&T! Can't win for losing! I do like the reception with Verizon better than AT&T. There were so many dead spots with AT&T even on city streets. That was almost 4 years ago and my daughter who works for AT&T says that they have improved since then.

I love my Android! I have the Motorola Razr Maxx, and it is an almost perfect phone for me. It is kind of big, but I love that I can see the screen. It responds quickly to touch, and is fairly user friendly. The camera is almost better than my Canon!
I had a Blackberry before this.....and absolutely hated it. It had email problems, would suddenly turn itself off, and take forever turning back on. I think I had to have it replaced 4 times in 2 years.

Yeah, I forgot about that about my Blackberry. I would sometimes randomly reboot. I am curious how the new one is though.
I just have to show you what I found on craigslist. This is quite the setup for sale! http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/grd/3816370070.html
If I had the property and funds...it would be mine (with a few tweaks to the coop/tractor)
Holy cow that looks like a shiney hot oven! lol Super pretty but dang that is expensive.

Wow, I'm getting a little concerned that every time someone says "Anyone have........?", I can usually say...................I do.

You know you hatch too much if your temperature gauge isn't working so you just test the egg on your cheek to see if it is correct! Lol

Perfectly acceptable, don't mommies kiss their kids on the forehead to check for fevers?

well, one critical bit of Broody Chicken Drama solved: Speedy was still being relentlessly harassed by the other broodies, so i moved her entire enclosure to my garage yesterday -- despite the somewhat dark accommodations, she and her chick seemed MUCH calmer and quieter, as is the rest of the flock -- so clearly the answer was to find her a new home. Chiqita kindly offered to give her a place in Orlando's harem, but now my next door neighbors are going to take her & her one chick (i had to promise to take it back if it turns out to be a boy, they don't want a roo), just up the hill from me. so relieved!

now if i can just get the last broody, Bella, to STAY ON HER EGGS until they hatch wed/thurs -- she keeps hearing/seeing all these cute little chicks, and thinking that they should be HER chicks -- stay put, silly girl, and you'll get your own!
