California - Northern

Well I also have a Welsummer boy and one CL boy.

I sure wish I could keep roos.
I have one Welsummer cockerel that went to live at the farm because he was crowing up a storm at 10 weeks. I kept the 3 pullets here along with 2 CL pullets. The breeds are so different! The Wellie girls are so friendly and bold. Our mulberry trees are producing like crazy and the Wellies come right up to grab the berries from me. The CLs hang in the back and are timid. I had not planned on breeding Wellies and just wanted a few girls for the egg color but the longer I have them, the more that I like them!

Are these the actual eggs from Judy?  I had some beautiful ones with plum colored bloom that didn't develop.  Throwing them away was so hard!
I believe these are from her page yes. I know how you feel, I had to throw away a bunch of eggs that were $20 a piece :(

They are from her Langshan pictures on her FaceBook page. I am fairly sure they are from her Hens.

So I'm thinking one of my chicks is a Partridge Cochin.

This is a pic of some from Cackle hatchery. and the second is mine. Pretty close.

We of course all want them.....:lau Sadly we can't have every chicken breed there is.:hit

Please share the information you have!

Now with this "purple bloom" ... Is it the specific breed you all like or simply achieving the pink purple ish hue?
My children's "project" a few years back pumped out several babies that gave mauve to dark purple eggs. Is that a preference for a substantial group of people???

For me, it's the breed that I love! My primary goal is to breed to SOP rather than just breeding for egg color. If I can have both, that will be a win/win!

Yikes! That does hurt! I am not keen on trying shipped eggs again right now but I really want this breeders blood line. The tail spread and set on his birds is fantastic! I may have to see if he is coming to Stockton again next year and buy started birds from him.

I had a hatchery Wellie before and she was standoffish, but these girls I hatched from Deann seem much nicer.

Umm pink and purple eggs are awesome! Of course I do not equal a substantial group of people.

I believe I'm officially a crazy chicken lady

It dawned on me as the hubs and I drove to Auburn to meet up with Debs_flock to pick up our newest addition to our flock (Hershey, the Black Copper Maran) and I'm walking through a street fair (oops, didn't know there was one) holding a CHICKEN! Women and children are pointing and snickering. One lady stopped me and exclaimed, "Is THAT a bird!?". Silently praying as I pass by a giant Saint Bernhard dog that he doesn't what I'm holding, I finally made it back to the car! Never in a million years thought I'd ever check that off the bucket list!

LOL! Thanks Deb for the pullet!
You know, it doesn't seem that odd to me to be walking around with a chicken. I mean I personally don't do it..... but hey it isn't that odd!

Good thing that lady didn't stop me to ask if that was a bird, because my snarky reply today would have been, "is that your FACE??!?!?" I am a little cranky today.
