Oh, I know one of the things I was going to post was the chart for blue color genetics.

Blue X Blue = 50% Blue, 25% Black, 25% Splash
Blue X Black = 50% Blue, 50% Black
Blue X Splash = 50% Blue, 50% Splash
Black X Black = 100% Black
Black X Splash = 100% Blue
Splash X Splash = 100% Splash * breeding this way will dilute your splashes, and they will fade more with each subsequent breeding.

They look great! It is funny to me when someone says they look like mottled Javas. If mottled Javas looked that good in the US I would be very surprised!
I get that a lot actually! Someone said they look like little puney Javas. That's fine with me though! I just love them!
Beautiful!!! For some reason, I am attracted to black and white animals! My dog and cat are both black and white. We have barred plymouth rocks, silver penciled plymouth rocks, a silver laced wyandotte, a Black Australorp, and both black and white Langshans. Hmmm...do you think that I need to add some Pita Pintas into the mix???

Hahaha! I love the contrast of the black and white.. Add in a super red comb and wattles and I'm dying of cuteness!
Ha ha I was actually going to say that but I have never seen either one in person. Can I ask what people like about these? No doubt they are beautiful but are they good in the heat in the cold and are they a newer breed to the US?
They are both heat and cold hardy. My Pita Pintas rarely pant and it was in the 100s last summer. Also, I noticed that they don't mind cold either. My basque roosters both got frostbite on the tips of their combs during winter, but my Pita Pinta roo wasn't affected at all. I live for friendly chickens and these guys have my heart :-)
Really..... I am starting to think there isn't a chicken I wouldn't like to have..... Purple Rooster!

:hugs I know Roseville is NOT Sacramento, but I do think there is one up here. An Avian vet that will do chickens too. Let me know if you want that number. I will look it up for you. Wow! Then I probably can't afford those eggs......
Ali - We are selling the eggs pretty cheaply for how rare they are. $70 a dozen plus shipping (or people can come meet the parents and pick up their eggs.) We absolutely love this breed and want others to discover their awesomeness too!

Don't you hate when that happens? Hello!

Well no scans on my showgirls since 12 am yesterday. Went to the po and they didn't have any other info on it either. I got the supervisors number to call tomorrow but she was gone by the time I called.

With all the storms yesterday and nothing for almost 20 hr's im worried.

If you send me your tracking number I can look it up for you. Where has it been for 20 hours? Sometimes they miss a scan, or the tracking bar code gets messed up so they can't scan it. I hope it gets to you soon!!

Silly chickens...They have been trained to go in when the light comes on! They do not need the light at night--unless you want them to lay eggs all winter long.

Cockerels start crowing any time, usually when you do not want them to. Mine usually start by 10 weeks or so but some take longer. A person on the HRIR thread(Heritage Rhode Island Red) said his did not start until several weeks after starting to mate the pullets--older than 20 weeks. Happy Chooks had one crow at 1 day old....

Chickens eat lots of things. Feathers at your place must be delicious....I have seen mine eating feathers.

Yup! If we don't turn it on they kinda walk around and go in and out of the coop and make a racket!

Ok, they haven't started crowing yet (not worried about it, the neighbors parrots are piercingly loud) but I have seen Speckles try and mount Ellie. (she got mad at him).

Oh! I forgot to mention that the feathers they've been eating are NOT attached to chickens. Can they choke on them? Are they lacking nutritionally or they just think they're tasty goodness?

Yup, found feathers are tasty goodness to chickens. It's nothing to worry about unless they find them ON other chickens and pull 'em out to eat. Feathers are mostly protein, which is one reason why hens often don't lay when they are molting; their bodies are using protein to regrow feathers and don't have enough to do that AND "build" eggs. And why many folks up the protein when chickens molt, to give them the boost they need.
